Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the last Cat Fight in The North Sea of October, 2022. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF, occurring during the first race, was due to a boat being removed after the first mark. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in the stirring fleet-foiled feline fury on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana Reverse and North Sea Torpedo courses, was made up of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively during the first race. As the wind picked up for the second race, a single-handed skipper opted to pick up crew for her Flying Shadow.

Today’s winner was Max (Max Starostin), with Daenerys (blondij Resident) second, and Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Max (Max Starostin) and Daenerys (blondij Resident) finished tied with 3 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
