Saturday saw a beautiful afternoon in the winter. This time we had a fleet of ten Bandit IF’s at the start. Two of the eight Bandit IFs had crews. The North Sea and Fruit regions behaved well and there was not a cloud in the sky. We thought so.

In the first race had a nice start. A skipper already took the lead. Behind her came a group of five Bandits who wanted to sail together past the first mark. This went extremely well. During the race, the skippers distanced themselves from the other four. However, another skipper had joined the four other boats. As a result, the group continued to consist of 5 boats. As the race progressed, the group slowly fell apart. The two front runners had got their hands on their position.

In the second race, everything seemed to be going well, until a region worked against it. As a result, the race had to be re-started. However, some skippers did not immediately respond to a restart. After the restart of the second race, we immediately had five boats in the lead. The five skippers would compete for first place

In the third and final race of the day we had a compact fleet of eight boats. Because the skippers each sailed a different line to the first mark, groups soon arose. And it soon became clear who was going to win this third race.

There was no DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

This weeks North Sea Bandit IF Regatta took place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in the winter. This time we had a fleet of eight Bandit IF’s at the start. Two of the eight Bandit IFs had crews. The North Sea and Fruit regions behaved well and there was not a cloud in the sky.

We had a great start and the fleet stayed close from the start. As a result, we would have a compact fleet until halfway through the first race. Halfway through the race a skipper had steering problems but he recovered, but had lost a number of places as a result.

In the second race, a pack of five boats led the fleet. The other three boats were sailed at a distance. The race was partly between the Isles of Fruit. The five skippers stayed together until the finish and they changed positions regularly.

In the third and final race of the day, two skippers took the lead, followed by five other skippers. The last skipper had to give up due to technical problems

There was one DNF (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots coming out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea Regions were generally well behaved with one DNF (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The lone DNF was due to a skipper crashing as she crossed across region corners. The crowds that gathered on the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the frenetic fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink and North Sea Extreme Reverse courses, was made up of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. Two WildWind AC-45s, and one TMS Nacra 17 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

From the left to the right: Bandit B22: Julia, Rugger Bandit IF: Sirius, Arbur, Julie, Jack Star Class: Emileigh, Max & Wyndi, Nicole Committee boat: Daenerys, Tamarushka

Today we had four Bandit IFs, three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class and two Bandit 22 LTEs at the start. One Star Class had crew on board. The Star Class had a separate start this time, with them starting first. The Bandits started together. As we had only two 22s, there was no overall1 winner for this class today.  We had good fights between the skippers. One Bandit IF sailor was by far the best and controlled the two races. The regions of North Sea where smooth today.

There were no DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

1A minimum of three of any competing boat class must start in at least one of the races of the Triple Threat for an overall winner for that class to be determined.

Calm seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots coming out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were once again well behaved with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. However, we seem to have a bit of a full moon cast over the big boat portion tonight, as four DSQs (Disqualified) were recorded due to incorrectly sailed courses. The crowds that gathered on the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW (Counter-clockwise) course, was made up of a majority of five Bandit 22 LTEs. Two Bandit IFs, two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two crewed TMS Star Class, one TMS Nacra 17, and one Isard Sjogin rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Butterfly course, was made up of a small majority of two TMS I-Mocca 60s. One WildWind Open 60, one Bandit 60, one Bandit 55, one TMS Pacha 110, an one Trudeau 12 Metre rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
