Smooth sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions were well behaved as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day, due to a skippers connection dropping on them during the second race. The spectators gathered on the small race dock and Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, both in the Eden Jakana region, were treated to some great fleet-foiled frisky feline action from this weeks skippers as the racing was quick and lively. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Manta course, as comprised of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, all sailing single-handed. Three TMS Nacra 17s rounded out this weeks fleet.

Race Notes:
Tara (Zella Ansar) and Teagan (Teagan Snowpaw) finished tied with 3 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
Zella Ansar | 2 | 1 |
Teagan Snowpaw | 1 | 2 |
In the last race, Tara breaks the tie with Teagan with her first place finish over Teagan’s second place finish.
Palani (Palani Allen) and Susi (Susicat Oh) both finished tied with 14 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Palani Allen | 6 | 8 |
Susicat Oh | 7 | 7 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Palani’s favor with having a sixth place finish over Susi’s seventh place finish as her best.
