Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the last North Sea Open Regatta for May, 2023. The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as four DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. Three of those DNFs, one in the small boat portion and two from the big boat portion, were from skippers crashing while crossing over regions corners. The remaining DNF, also from the big boat portion, was from a skippers internet connection dying on her. The crowds that assembled along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on an energetic display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea 108 course, was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, split evenly with one crewed and one single-handed respectively, rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea 04 v3 course, was made up of a majority of five TMS I-Mocca 60s. Two WildWind Open 60s, and two WildWind RC-44Rs rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the last North Sea Bandit Regatta for May, 2023. With a moderate breeze of 15 knots out of the southwest, rising to a fresh breeze of 18 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were well behaved as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered on the beaches on the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in a dynamic display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 05 and North Sea WC Reach 2 courses, was made up of a majority of seven Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the last Cat Fight in The North Sea for May, 2023. The North Sea regions were well behaved with two DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The first DNF, occurring during the first race, was due to a skipper’s internet connection’s increasingly poor condition. The second DNF, occurring during the second race, was due to a skipper pulling his boat after frustration from the 21 knot race wind. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, indulged in the fresh fleet-foiled feline ferment on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta and North Sea Cat Fight 01 courses, was made up of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. One WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

The first DNF, occurring during the big boat portion, was due to a skippers connection dying on her. The second DNF, also during the big boat portion, was from a skipper crashing while crossing over region corners. The final DNF, also during the big boat portion, was due to a skipper having to leave from RL circumstances beyond her control. The crowds that assembled on the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, savored a great display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea 107 course, was made up of a majority of six Bandit 22 LTEs. Two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Sea Boss – Riders, one Quest M-24, and one crewed TMS Star Class rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Extreme course, was made up of a majority of four TMS I-Mocca 60s. Three WildWind Open 60s, two WildWind RC-44Rs, one Trudeau 12 Metre, and one TMS Ocean Beach rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.

The lone DNF came during the second race as a skipper had connection issues. The crowds that gathered on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, thrilled in a lively display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 02 and North Sea 01 courses, was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet in the first race. One Bandit IF skipper opted to switch to her Bandit 22 in the second race.

Bandit Regatta – May 15th 2023

Calm seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as five DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. Two DNFs, from the same skipper in both races, were due to her deleting her boat after being fouled even though the opposing skipper completed penalty turns. Another DNF, occurring during the second race, was also from a skipper deleting her boat after she realized her navigation HUD was not functioning. The remaining two DNFs, also occurring during the second race, were from skippers crashing while crossing over region corners. The crowds that gathered on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in an energetic display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Short) and a two lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop course, was made up of a majority of six Bandit 22 LTEs. Five Bandit IFs, four sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet in the first race. The second race saw two Bandit IF skippers switch to Bandit 22 LTEs.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were mostly well behaved with three DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. Two of those DNFs were from skippers pulling their boats in the second race, one from a call in the physical world, and the other from frustration on the course. The remaining DNF was from a skipper crashing after a rough region crossing in the second race. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in the energetic fleet-foiled feline fever on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink and North Sea Extreme Reverse courses, was made up of a majority of eight The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, five sailing single-handed and three crewed respectively. One WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet in the first race. Two Flying Shadow skippers picked up crew for the second race.

Three DNFs, two in the small boat portion and one in the big boat portion, were from skippers crashing while crossing over regions corners. The remaining DNF, occurring during the big boat portion, was from a skipper having connection issues. The crowds that assembled on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, relished a peppy display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing a three lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop course, was made up of a majority of seven Bandit 22 LTEs. Two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, one sailing crewed and one single-handed respectively, one TMS Nacra 17, one TMS Sea Boss – Rider, and one Trudeau HepCat rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was made up of a split majority of three WildWind Open 60s, and three TMS I-Mocca 60s. One ACA 33, one WildWind RC-44r, one TMS Cafe del Mar 75, one Trudeau Francois Jacques, and one TMS Ocean Beach rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
