Calm seas, with nice fleet turnouts, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions behaved well as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, occurring during the big boat portion, was from a skipper pulling his WildWind after script issues. The remaining DNF, also occurring during the big boat portion, was due to a skipper crashing while crossing across region corners. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta Reverse course, was made up of a small majority of four Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Shields Class, two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, split evenly with one crewed and one single-handed respectively, one Bandit IF, and one TMS Flying Shadow rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Butterfly course, was made up of a majority of three TMS I-Mocca 60s. Two Bandit 60s, one WildWind Open 60, one TMS Pacha 110, one WildWind SC-40, one Trudeau 12 Metre, one Trudeau Runa IV, and one ACA33 rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
