Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were behaved for most, with just two DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. Both DNFs occurred during the first race, as two skippers crashed while crossing over region corners. The crowds that gathered on the observation deck of the lighthouse in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea SS-01, and the North Sea Trapezoid courses, was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Choppy to calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were a bit stormy at the start, as four DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded. Of those four DNFs, all occurring during the first race, three were from skippers crashing while crossing region corners. The remaining DNF was due to a skipper pulling his boat and logging. The seas calmed for the second race, as every skipper finished with nary a hiccup. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses on the islands in the Genip, and Ziziphus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the frenzied fleet-foiled feline fury on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Torpedo and North Sea Extreme Reverse courses, was made up of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, six sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. One WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

As they both have the exact same finishes, a DNF (Did Not Finish) during the first race and a DNS (Did Not Start) during the seconr race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Moon and Juicy remain tied in seventh place overall.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a gentle breeze of 8 knots out of the southwest, rising to a moderate breeze of 11 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were well behaved for everyone with only two DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. Both DNFs, occurring during the second race, were due to skippers crashing while crossing region corners. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on some exciting fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Short), and a two lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop course, was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Today’s winner was Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook), with Sea (filax Carter) second, and Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.

Race Notes:
Juicy (juice651 Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished the first race tied at the finishing line with a time of 10:14. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:

If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Therefore, both Juicy and Moon receive 5.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 5 and 6, added together and divided equally.

Sea (filax Carter) and Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) both finished tied with 5 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race.
