Calm seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a moderate breeze of 11 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were generally well behaved for everyone as only three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first two DNFs occurred during the first race, as one skipper got stripped from her boat on a region crossing while another skipper removed her boat after hitting the RC boat near the finish. The remaining DNF occurred during the second race as a skipper removed his boat after the scripts in it stopped responding. The crowds that gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, and on the observation deck of the lighthouse in the Ziziphus region, cheered on a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Olympic Short Reverse and North Sea WC Reach 2 courses, was made up of a majority of twelve Bandit 22 LTEs. Four Bandit IFs, three sailing crewed and one sailing single-handed respectively, and one Bandit 50/3 X rounded out the remainder of the Bandit fleet.
