Smooth sim sailing weather, with some great racing, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of the North Sea behaved beautifully as the two DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were due to navigation HUD issues instead of region issues, from the same skipper in each race. The spectators gathered on the small race dock and the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, were treated to a great display of racing due to the smooth weather. This weeks frisky fleet-foiled feline fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink and North Sea Bowline Reverse courses, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows, three crewed and three single-handed respectively. One lone Wildwind AC-62 rounded out this weeks fleet.

Stormy to clearing sim sailing weather and another great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The regions of the North Sea were stormy for the small boat portion of the regatta, as nine DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded. Of those nine DNFs, seven were due to region border crossing crashes at various points on the course. The other two DNFs in the small boat portion were due to skippers having an incorrect course loaded in their navigation HUD and then pulling their boat upon realizing their error. The stormy sailing weather cleared up a bit for the big boat portion, as only three DNFs were recorded, two due to region border crashes, and a third due to the physical world interfering with the skipper. Spectators still took in some great displays of racing from this weeks large fleets, as they gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, and along the beaches in the Eden Albatros region, and on the islands in the Genip and Ziziphus regions.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline course, was comprised of a majority of seven Bandit 25Rs. Five Bandit IFs, three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, one crewed and two single-handed respectively, one Shields Class, one Trudeau Hepcat, and one Trudeau Patchogue II made up the remainder of this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Butterfly course, was comprised of a majority of four Wildwind Open 60s. Three Bandit 50/3s, two Wildwind AC-62s, one TMS Volvo Open 70, and one Trudeau 12 Metre made up the remainder of this weeks big boat fleet.

Furthermore, Sandra further breaks the remaining tie between her and Max, with her fourth place best finish over Max’s seventh place best finish.

Tay (Tay Beningborough) and Laured (laured Cabassoun) both finished tied with 17 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Rugger (ruggeromare Resident), Red (RedHeadJO Resident), Rotor (Rotorbl4de Resident), Kayo (Kayo Torii), and Cor (CorSakov Sosa) all finished tied with 22 points. As they all finished with the exact same finishes, a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the small boat portion and DNS (Did Not Start) in the big boat portion respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their. Therefore, Rugger, Red, Rotor, Kayo, and Cor all remain tied in fifteenth place overall.

Smooth sim sailing weather and a great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of the North Sea behaved well, as of the four DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day, two were from region crossing crashes that happened towards the end of the second race. The other two DNFs occurred during the first race with Red’s connection dropping entirely, she had to restart her router to get back online. The other DNF in the first race was due to Riz realizing he was sailing an incorrect course and pulling his boat. The Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier is back and it was full of spectators taking in the great racing on display from today’s large fleet. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Short) and a 2 lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop course, was comprised of split majority of six Bandit 25Rs and six Bandit IFs. Two Bandit 50/3s made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

It was a nice Saturday afternoon at 1 PM SLT, when 11 bandit IFs, of which 7 solo and 4 with crew, started for two new races. Almost all of a fleet of 7 boats started simultaneously. Soon after the first tack righting the first buoy, two boats broke away from the other five. These two boats would stay together until the finish. Behind the two boats there was a group of three boats that stayed together for a long time. A boat lost its way and sailed a completely different course, which could not even be followed by the RD.

For the second race, the wind weakened a bit. After the start we had seven boats that sailed over the starting line almost simultaneously, which again yielded a nice picture. However, the first boat already had a head start, not to give it up. The other boats followed from a distance.

With one DNFs and a one DSQ, it was again a sporting if not successful day in the North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Mild sim sailing weather with a nice fleet turnout highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in the North Sea. The North Sea regions were temperamental as five DNFs (Did Not Finish) were claimed on the day, three during the first race and two during the second respectively. Two of the three DNFs during the first race were due to crashes, with the third due to a skippers connection disconnecting him from the internet. That same skippers internet connection again dropped during the second race, for one of the two DNFs, while the second DNF in the second race was due to a crash. The spectators gathered on the small racing dock and temporary Poseidon Sailing Center viewing platform1, in the newly acquired Eden Jakana region, were still treated to a great display of racing. This weeks fast fleet-foiled feline fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta Reverse and North Sea Extreme course, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, five single-handed and one crewed respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s and one Wildwind AC-62 made up the remainder of the fleet. Special thanks to Daenerys for stepping in to direct in my place at the last moment, as the physical world had other plans for me.

More pictures, courtesy of Daenerys, after the results.

1Due to the replacement of the Eden Lapwing region with the recently acquired Eden Jakana region, the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier had not been placed in position at the time of the races this past weekend. A temporary viewing platform is in place until the pier is put into place. As always, please pardon the dust as Maddie works to restore and remodel the Poseidon Sailing Centre.

Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) and Laured (laured Cabassoun) both finished tied with 13 points. As both have the exact same finishes in each race, a fifth place and eighth place finish respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will break this tie. Therefore, Rayz and Laured remain tied in eighth place overall.

Mild sim sailing weather and an outstanding spectator turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions behaved well for both portions of the race, up until two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded at the end of the big boat portion. One DNF was due to a skipper crashing on a crossing while the other DNF was due to a skipper not able to enter a region as it had reached its avatar maximum capacity preventing further avatars from entering. The spectator turnout was great, as not only did the aforementioned DNF occur due to the crowd gathered on both the small dock and the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Lapwing region, but more spectators were gathered along the shore of the island in the Ziziphus region. To remedy the growing crowds capping the avatar maximum in the Eden Lapwing region, as it’s a homestead and has a maximum of 20 avatars, a full region was ordered and is in place at the time of publishing of this post. The Eden Jakana region, a full region supporting a 110 avatar maximum, is now in place of the Eden Lapwing region. All Ultimate Sailor Buddy (USB) course notecards and maps in the map givers on the small racing dock in the Eden Jakana region have been updated as well as the landmarks included in the race notice notecards sent out going forward.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing a two lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop course, was comprised of a triple split majority of three Bandit 25Rs, three Bandit IFs, and three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two single-handed and one crewed respectively. One TMS Laser One and one Shields Class made up the remainder of this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of a majority of four Wildwind Open 60s. Two Wildwind AC-62s, one Bandit 50/3, one TMS Volvo Open 70, and one TMS One Design 65 made up the remainder of this weeks big boat fleet.

Stormy sim sailing weather and another nice fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of the North Sea were ornery as seven DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, four in the first race and three in the second respectively. The crashes in the race seemed inconsistent to region and more arbitrary as only two DNFs occurred at the same point, the crossing from the Sapote region into the Eden Lapwing region during the first race. Of the other five DNFs, two were due to navigation HUD issues, and the remaining three were due to crashes at other spots in the estate. Nonetheless, spectators still enjoyed some great displays of racing, from the still under renovation Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small racing dock in the Eden Lapwing region. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Triple Pink course, was comprised of a majority of seven Bandit IFs, five single-handed and two crewed respectively. Three Bandit 25Rs made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

Bandit IF Races – September 14th 2019

From the down to up: (in Bandit IFs): Sasha, Red, Ian, Max & Wyndi, JulieRoyale, Adeli & Lalia, Siri, Rugger & JadeMcDane, Jack, Max & Wyndi, and Nihi. On the Committee boat: Daenerys and Joshua. On the dock: fho and Harmony.

It was a beautiful late summer day in the North Sea when we were again able to greet 10 bandit IFs. 4 skippers had brought the crew. The start went smoothly and the surprise of the day came up before the first buoy was reached. After Ian left the fleet immediately after the start to find his own way to the first buoy, Sasha was the first to leave the fleet, surprising everyone with her action and making her the first to arrive in the Ziziphus region. After this she did not let the head run anymore, although at the end she made it exciting when Siri apparently came close.

The start of the second race went a little less smoothly than the first, but everyone started and we had a fleet of 10 bandits looking for a way to the Sapote region. Siri was in charge and turned first, making it seem like chaos, but the boats could evade each other until Siri and Ian met. Rugger benefited from it and was the first in the Sapote region, but was quickly followed by the fleet.
In the Sapodilla region, Julie had taken over the lead and Rugger had to defend second place with Ian, Jack and Sasha

With two DNFs and a single DSQ, it was again a sporting if not successful day in the North Sea

Smooth sim sailing weather with a great spectator turnout highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in the North Sea. The regions of the North Sea and Fruit Islands were well behaved as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The nice size crowds, gathered on the small racing dock and still under-remodel Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, both in the Eden Lapwing region, were treated to some great racing from this weeks frisky fleet-foiled feline fleet. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Outer Inner Loop (OIL) and North Sea Copacabana courses, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows, two crewed and four single-handed respectively. One lone Wildwind AC-62 made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

On the committee boat: Emileigh, Joshua, and Cryptic. On the dock: Sabrina and Krystaly. On the pier: Dusty.

Mild sim sailing weather and a great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were nominally behaved as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded during the small boats portion of the regatta. Two of those DNFs were due to skippers crashing on region crossings, while the third DNF was due to a skipper pulling her boat after realizing she had the incorrect course loaded into her Ultimate Sailor Buddy navigation HUD. The North Sea regions settled down for the big boat portion, as only one DNF was recorded during that race. Crowds took in the great display of racing from this weeks large fleets, from the comfortable confines of the still under renovation Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Lapwing region, and along the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink course, was comprised of a majority of seven Bandit 25Rs, five single-handed and two crewed respectively. Three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two single-handed and one crewed, two TMS Nacra 17s, one Bandit IF, and one Shields Class made up the remainder of this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, this weeks big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW course, was comprised of a majority of five Wildwind Open 60s. Two Trudeau 12 Metres, one TMS One Design 65, one Bandit 50/31, and one Wildwind AC-62 made up the remainder of this weeks big boat fleet.

1Note: As of the publication of these results, the handicap for the Bandit 50/3 has been updated to a value of 0.68. You can see more of our handicaps on North Sea Handicap Table. From this point, only the X version of the Bandit 50/3, which is the no mod racing version, will be allowed to race in North Sea handicap races. The Bandit 50/3 X is also the first boat from The Mesh Shop/Bandit to have their new BOSS4 sailing scripts. The regular mod version of the Bandit 50/3 still uses the BOSS3 sailing scripts.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Bianca’s favor with having a third place finish over Isa’s fourth place finish as her best.

Rossa (rossamare Resident), Red (RedHeadJO Resident), Joanee (Joan Mayflower) ,and Lilita (lilita Cifuentes) all finished tied with 22 points. As they all have the exact same finishes in each race, 11 point finishes in both portions respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Rossa, Red, Joanee, and Lilita remain tied in twelfth place overall.
