Saturday afternoon, the last Bandit IF competition of 20191. At the start are 10 boats ready, 5 of which are crewed, for the final test measurements between the skippers. Who will it be and who will not reach the finish. It won’t be long before we get to know. Immediately after the start, five boats take the lead, behind which the field has already been opened. After the second mark, a boat takes the lead with a group of 3 boats behind them, who will compete for second place. Surprisingly, only a few skippers sail along the east side of Ziziphus

After the start signal of the second race, two boats take the lead and are followed by a group of 4 boats. Soon the North Sea is littered with Bandit IF boats. But as we approach the end of the day we see the order of the ships slowly becoming clear. A skipper loses track and misses, and not on a hair, Ziziphus and another skipper refuses to sail a 360, making it a DSQ (Disqualified).

Stormy to smooth sim sailing weather, with a great spectator turnout, highlighted this weeks, and the last of 20191 calendar year, Cat Fight in the North Sea. The regions of the North Sea were finicky during the first race, as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded, two to crashes and one to a skippers connection failing. The seas calmed down for the second race, as only one DNF was recorded, this one to that same skipper’s pesky connection failing. Spectators crowded the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, then spread out to the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, as the race moved the fleet to the Eden Jaeger race line, were the second race started from and finished. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 02 and North Sea Thornback courses, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and two with crew respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s rounded out the final frisky fleet-foiled Cat Fight fleet of the year.

1Special Note: The North Sea and Backwater Bay will take a two week holiday break from racing and sailing activities, starting Monday, December 23rd, 2019. Racing and sailing activities in the North Sea and out of Backwater Bay will then resume during the new year, on Monday, January 6th, 2020. Jekyll and Hyde sim sailing weather, with a record breaking fleet turnout, helped highlight and end the year in this weeks, and final for 20191, North Sea Open Regatta. The regions of the North Sea were on their absolute best behavior for the small boat portion of the regatta, as nineteen boats started and finished2 with no crashes or DNFs (Did Not Finish). However, the Mammea region decided to give up the ghost and went offline right at the start of the big boat portion, as the fleet sailed into it, resulting in most of the fleet crashing. After a recall of the big boat fleet, and restart on a new course, two DNFs were ultimately recorded in the big boat portion and on the day. The spectators on hand, on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, and the island in the Ziziphus region, were still treated to a great and dramatic final Open Regatta of the year.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta course, was comprised of a split majority of six Bandit 25Rs and six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and two sailing with crew respectively. Three Bandit IFs, three TMS Nacra 17s, and one TMS Star Class made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, originally sailing on the North Sea Butterfly course until being recalled and restarted on the North Sea 03 course, was comprised of a majority of five Wildwind Open 60s. Two TMS Volvo Open 70s, two TMS One Design 65s, one ACA33, and one Wildwind AC-62 rounded out the big boat fleet.

Nice sim sailing weather, with a great spectator and fleet turnout, highlighted the last North Sea Bandit Regatta of 20191. The regions of the North Sea were well behaved as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day, due to a skipper pulling her boat halfway through the first race. The large gathering of spectators on hand, on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, and along the northern shore of the island in the Ziziphus region, took in some great racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Short) and 2 laps on the North Sea Short Loop course, was comprised of a majority of eight Bandit IFs, six sailing single-handed and two with crew respectively. Five Bandit 25Rs rounded out this weeks fleet.

Saturday afternoon, the second to last Bandit IF competition for 2019. We started with 7 boats, three of which with crew. Later another one was added. It was busy at the start line after the signal and it all just went well. Fortunately there were no injuries. Ian immediately took the lead and a group of three boats followed him until the end of the race.
At the start of the second race, the boats were slightly further apart. Siri had to make sure that Ian was the first to start and behind him a vast field with boats that were not far apart arose. Julie got some problems in Eden Jakana.

Saturday afternoon, with ten Bandit IFs, six of which with crew and four solo, we could expect something special on the North Sea. The wind was good and there was no heavy weather coming. A boat immediately took the lead with a group of three boats chasing after him and behind it another group of three boats. A boat missed the buoy in Dragonfruit and as a result got a DSQ (Disqualified) in his pants as we say in The Netherlands..

In the second race, a group of four boats emerged from the start. One of the boats took a lead with the remaining three boats in the chase. We lost one of the sailors at the start of the race. After the end of the race, the boats started to spread further apart, were you saw boats sailing everywhere, which again gave a nice sight. However, two boats missed the orange buoy in Sapodilla, which also gave them a DSQ.

With a DNF (Did Not Finish) and three DSQs, another sporting if not successful day in The North Sea.

The fleet rounds the blue buoy in the Sapote region, the first course mark on the North Sea Counterclockwise (CCW) course, during the North Sea Bandit IF Races on Saturday, December 7th, 2019.

Great sim sailing weather and spectator turn out highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea behaved extremely well as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day, due to a skipper pulling his boat after losing a HUD. The spectators on hand, gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region and the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, reveled in the great display of fleet-foiled feline frenzy from this weeks catamarans. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana and North Sea Extreme courses, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and two sailing with crew respectively. One lone TMS Nacra 17 made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.
