Great sim sailing weather and large fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were well behaved and smooth for everyone as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was due to a skipper sailing into region corners. Everyone else in the fleet, two races full of 18 boats each, finished. The spectators that flocked to the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on this weeks skippers as they put on a great display of fleet racing. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Trapezoid and North Sea Manta courses, was comprised of a majority of ten Bandit 22 LTEs. Six Bandit IFs, four sailing single-handed and two sailing with crew respectively, and two Bandit 25Rs rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Today’s winner was Jenna (jnx1e Resident), with Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.
Race Notes:
Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) and UL (ultramantra Resident) both finished the second race tied at the finishing line with a time of 14:40. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:
“If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.“
Therefore, both Zimtzicke and UL receive 3.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 3 and 4, added together and divided equally.
Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) both finished tied with 22 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Jacquimo Resident | 9 | 13 |
ruggeromare Resident | 10 | 12 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jackson’s favor with having a ninth place finish over Rugger’s tenth place finish as his best.
Sea (filax Carter), Meireles (Meireles Diabolito), and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) all finished tied with 31 points.
No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
filax Carter | 13 | 18 |
Meireles Diabolito | 14 | 17 |
Maximiliano Szondi | 15 | 16 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Sea’s favor with having a thirteenth place finish over Meireles’s fourteenth place and Max’s fifteenth place finishes as their best.
