On the dock:Joshua and Sunday. On the committee boat: Daenerys.

Today we had 6 Bandit IFs of which 4 with crew and 2 solo. The first race went smoothly with a nice start by Ian and Rugger, Moon had some problems at the start, but Moon would not have been Moon if he had caught up with Rugger halfway through the race and he was chasing Ian. in the last leg, Moon was stronger and won the first race, with Ian on his heels. Siri and Rugger made it exciting at the finish.

In the second race things went a bit slower. Max and Rugger made it exciting on the line, both crossing cleanly with no barging, that was really a race among fellow countrymen. Siri took the lead and did not give it off until the first pass, where Rugger took the lead, but then he stopped. Once again Moon and Ian fought neck and neck.

The rest of the fleet was comprised of five The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows, two crewed and three single-handed, respectively. The waters of the North Sea and Fruit Islands responded in kind as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. Once again, spectators continued to crowd the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region to take in the sites of the large fleet-foiled felines.

On the committee boat: Joshua, and Cryptic.

A stormy start with another great spectator turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were all well behaved except for the Sloe region, as it claimed five of the days six DNFs (Did Not Finish) to crashes. A non-competing boat had parked in the region before it was able to be removed by estate staff during the small boat portion, weighing it down with scripts, which ultimately lagged out and crashed half the fleet as they entered into the region. After the boat was removed, and the region was restarted, conditions returned to their usual smooth behavior. The sixth DNF on the day, during the big boat portion, was from a skipper pulling their boat due to a real life commitment pulling them away. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region and on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier were enthusiastic, even through the brief storm during the small boat race, as they cheered on the great display of racing from both fleets.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Olympic Mirror course, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, evenly split between three single-handed and three crewed boats respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s, one Bandit 25r, and one Shields Class made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Extreme course, was made up of a majority of six Wildwind Open 60s. One TMS One Design 65, one TMS Volvo Open 70, and one Bandit 50/3 made up the remainder of the big boat fleet.

Furthermore, to break the remaining tie between UL and Lalia, as they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Sandra (WWWAAAA Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) finished tied with 10 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

In the last race, Sandra breaks the tie with Moon with her fourth place finish over Moon’s sixth place finish.

Bianca (TgBianca Resident) and Palani (Palani Allen) finished tied with 16 points. As they both have the exact same finishes in each race, a DNF (Did Not Finish) and DNS (Did Not Start) respectively, neither Rule A8.2 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing can break this tie. Therefore, Bianca and Palani remain tied in ninth place overall.

Great sim sailing weather with another nice spectator turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea waters were well mannered as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was due to a skipper getting caught across a region corner and crashing (you can’t be in four regions at once). The crowds gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and along the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region enjoyed the calm weathered fueled racing display put on by the fleet. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 and North Sea Olympic Mirror courses, was comprised of a majority of eight Bandit IFs, two crewed and six single-handed respectively. Two Bandit 25Rs made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

Great sim sailing weather highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit IF Races. The regions of the Fruit Islands, Eden Naturist Estate, and North Sea were well behaved as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day was due to a skipper pulling his boat due to a real life obligation and leaving the races. Spectators gathered along the shores of the islands in the Genip and Zizphus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, to take in the great IF racing on display. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW and North Sea 103 courses, was nine Bandit IFs strong with one crewed and eight single-handed boats.

From the left (in Bandit IFs): Sasha, Moon, Siri Ian, Max and Wyndi, Ultra, Nihi, and Fanny. Committee boat: Daenerys. On Dock: Martina Korpov.
