Calm seas, with a light fleet turnout, highlighted the first North Sea Open Regatta of November, 2022. With Summer Time ending for Europe this past weekend and North America ending Daylight Savings Time this upcoming weekend, Secondlife™ time is one hour earlier for those in Europe this week. As a result, this week every year gives us our lightest fleet turnouts. The North Sea regions were generally well behaved with one DNF (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The lone DNF, occurring during the big boat portion, was due to a skipper crashing while crossing from the Sloe region into the Sapodilla region, resulting in her boat taking a relaxing swim in our assistant race director Daenerys’ pool on her island in the Persimmon region. The crowds that gathered along the beaches on the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on a great display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Trapezoid course, was made up of a majority of three Bandit 22 LTEs. Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the last North Sea Open Regatta of June, 2022. The North Sea regions were well behaved as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF was attributed to a skipper pulling her boat during the small boat portion after frustration from being fouled on the first leg. The second DNF, occurring during the big boat portion, was due to a skipper, new to racing, pulling her boat after frustration from trying to sail without auto-trim enabled. The crowds that gathered along the shores on the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline course, was made up of a triple split majority of two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two Bandit 22 LTEs, and two Bandit IFs. One TMS Sea Boss Rider, and one Shields Class rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Torpedo course, was made up of a split majority of two TMS I-Mocca 60s, and two WildWind RC-44Rs. One Trudeau 12 Metre, one Trudeau Runa IV, and one Bandit 60 rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.

Great sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF was attributed to a skipper crashing while crossing across region corners during the second race. The crowds that assembled along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and on the small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the frenetic fleet-foiled feline furor on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline Reverse and the North Sea Torpedo courses, was made up of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. One WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet in the first race. Two Flying Shadow skippers opted for different boats, one a WildWind AC-62, and another a TMS Nacra 17, for the second race.
