Calm to slightly choppy seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were calm for most as all four of the DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day were due to skippers pulling their boats. Two DNFs were due to skippers pulling their boats after discovering they had an incorrect course loaded in their navigation HUD. One more DNF was from a skipper pulling his boat after frustration from getting lost, with the final DNF due to a skipper pulling his boat after experiencing boat script issues. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. With a moderate breeze of 11 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions started out stormy as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) occurred during the first race. Two of those DNFs were from skippers crashing on crossings, while the remainder was due to a skipper crashing while crossing across a region corner. The storm clouds blew away for the second race, as every skipper of the 16 boat strong fleet finished with no crashes. The crowds that gathered along the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 and North Sea 02 courses, was made up of a majority of ten Bandit 22 LTEs. Six Bandit IFs, five sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Saturday afternoon was a beautiful afternoon in September. Today the races were again in Appleberry. This time we had a fleet of eight Bandit IFs at the start. One Bandit IF had crew on board. The North Sea and Fruit Island regions behaved well.

Today we would sail two races. In the first race, the fleet spread very quickly across the North Sea towards the first mark deep in the Fruit Island regions. In the second race, the fleet stayed together for a very long time. Halfway through the race, groups started to form.

We had no DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through all races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea and Fruit Islands.

Choppy seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were rough for some of our skippers today as storm clouds hung around for both portions of the regatta. Seven DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, five during the small boat portion and two during the big boat portion respectively. Of those seven DNFs, three were attributed to skippers crossing over region corners and crashing. Two more DNFs were attributed to skippers crashing on regions crossings, with the remaining two DNFs due to skippers pulling their boats after script issues. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing a three lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop course, was made up of a majority of six Bandit 22 LTEs. Juicy (juice651 Resident) and Sirius (Sirius Rosca) finished tied with 16 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Diana’s favor with having an eighth place finish over ViV’s ninth place finish as her best.

Flapio (Flapio Resident), Erica (EricaMusashi Resident), and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) all finished tied with 23 points. As they all had the exact same finishes in each portion of the regatta, a DNF (Did Not Finish) during the small boat portion and a DNS (Did Not Start) during the big boat portion respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Flapio, Erica, and Red all remain tied in thirteenth place overall.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots coming from the southwest, The North Sea regions were behaved for most with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta and North Sea Bowline courses, was made up of a split majority of five Bandit 22 LTEs and five Bandit IFs, four sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively.

Saturday afternoon was a beautiful afternoon in September. Today the races were again in Appleberry. This time we had a fleet of nine Bandit IFs at the start. Two Bandit IFs had crew on board. The North Sea regions behaved well, but we had several dropouts in the Fruit Island regions.

Today we would sail two races. In the first race, the fleet spread very quickly across the North Sea towards the first mark deep in the Fruit Island regions. In the second race, the fleet stayed together for a very long time. Halfway through the race, groups started to form.

We had six DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through all races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea and Fruit Islands.

Great sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions were well behaved for our skippers today as only two DNFs (Did Not Finish) occurred. That first DNF, during the first race, was due to a skippers internet connection dropping on them as they neared the finish. The remaining DNF, during the second race, was due to a skipper crashing as they crossed across region corners. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Genip, Citrus, and Ziziphus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the frenetic fleet-foiled feline furor on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW (Counter-Clockwise) and North Sea Hay courses, was made up of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, three sailing crewed and two sailing single-handed respectively. One TMS Nacra 17, and one WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

The third Thursday afternoon in September was a beautiful day for Triple Threat with good sailing weather coming in from the southwest. The North Sea regions behaved very well.

Today we had nine Bandits at the starting line of the first race. There were three Bandit 22 LTEs, six Bandit IFs. One of the 22s and one of the IFs had crew on board. One of the 22s sailed with no race wind, so it was not registered by the race line. In the second race, a fourth 22 joined the company.

Today we had two great races. There were close fights between all the skippers. In the second race, we used the multi-start option of Lalia’s race line for the first time in history. As a result, two different fleets were created right from the start that did not get in each other’s way. I want to use this way of starting more in the future.

There was three DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
