Calm to slightly choppy seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were calm for most as all four of the DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day were due to skippers pulling their boats. Two DNFs were due to skippers pulling their boats after discovering they had an incorrect course loaded in their navigation HUD. One more DNF was from a skipper pulling his boat after frustration from getting lost, with the final DNF due to a skipper pulling his boat after experiencing boat script issues. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Two Bandit IFs, one Shields Class, one Isard Sjogin, and one Quest 2m rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing a two lap affair on the North Sea Long Loop course, was made up of a majority of four Trudeau 12 Metres. Two WildWind Open 60s, one The Mesh Shop (TMS) Pacha 110, one TMS One Design 65, one TMS Ushuaia, and one Bandit 55 rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
