Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the last North Sea Open Regatta for November, 2022. The North Sea regions were well behaved as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, recorded during the small boat portion, was from a skipper crashing as she crossed over region corners. The remaining DNF, also recorded during the small boat portion, was from a skippers router cutting off her connection to the internet. The crowds that gathered on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, were delighted by a rousing display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing a three lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop Mirror course, was made up of a majority of six Bandit 22 LTEs. Two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, and one TMS Flying Shadow rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was made up of a majority of three TMS I-Mocca 60s. One TMS Ushuaia, one TMS Es Paradis, and one Trudeau 12 Metre rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.

Bandit IF Regatta – Nov 26th 2022

26 nov 2022 race_004

From the left to the right (in Bandit IFs): Red, Julie, Jack, Darb & Kit, Siri, Moon, and Rugger. Committee boat: Daenerys, and Tamarushka.

The last North Sea Bandit IF regatta for November, 2022, took place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We started with seven Bandit IFs. One Bandit IF had crew on board. We had a great start and Rugger took the lead right away. He and Red hit a corner of a region and had to give up. Julie then took a lead and was chased by Moon. Siri and Jack would battle for third place all day. Luckily there were no guns on board :).

In the second race we left with five boats. Julie immediately took the lead again. Siri and Jack chased Moon, but he stayed ahead of them. Towards the end of the match, fate struck for Julie. She lost control of her boat and sailed directly against the huts in the region of Clementine. As a result, Moon and Jack overtook her, but in the end she was still second.

There were two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

A beautiful Saturday afternoon in November was the scene for this weeks North Sea Bandit IF Regatta. We started with nine bandit IFs. Three skippers sailed west of Satsuma and six skippers then sailed east of Satsuma, which proved to be the best route in both races. At the first mark, Red took the lead, followed by Jack, Rugger and Max. Julie and Moon followed at a distance. But Julie and Max found a sandbar and fell behind. Rugger took his chances and took the lead. Red sat in his wake and Moon followed at a distance. Behind it Sea, Jack, and Siri. Fate struck for Red and we had to move on without her. Moon, meanwhile, was hot on Rugger’s heels, but he didn’t give in a straw. In the background Sea, Jack, Julie, and Max would battle for third place

In the second race we started again with nine skippers. Max had a really good start. Closely followed by Julie, Jack, Red, and Sea. Halfway through the race, Julie took over the lead from Max. Siri and Red followed behind Sea, Moon, and Rugger. On the way back it became clear that the battle was not over yet. Julie slowly moved away from the fleet. behind her would be Moon, Siri, Max, and Red vying for second place

There were three DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were mostly well behaved as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, recorded during the second race, was due to a skipper crashing while crossing over region corners. The remaining DNF, also recorded during the second race, was from a skipper’s viewer crashing to her desktop while in the middle of a region. The crowds that gathered on the beaches on the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, relished the fresh fleet-foiled feline fire on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Extreme course, was made up of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, six sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. One TMS Nacra 17 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet in the first race. One Flying Shadow skipper opted to switch to his Nacra 17 for the second race.

Calm to slightly choppy seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. All three DNFs, one occurring during the small boat portion and two during the big boat portion, were the results of skippers crossing over region corners. The two DNFs during the big boat portion were the direct results of a particularly nasty corner rounding, around the northern tip of the island in the Ziziphus region, amongst a pack of six of the fleet at that point. The crowds that gathered along the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in a rousing display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW (counter-clockwise) course, was made up of a majority of ten Bandit 22 LTEs. Two Bandit IFs, and two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, one sailing crewed and one single-handed respectively, rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Roundabout course, was made up of a majority of four TMS I-Mocca 60s. Three WildWind Open 60s, and one TMS One Design 65 rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
