Calm sailing weather and a nice spectator turnout features during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta. The Bingo Strait regions returned to their characteristic calm behavior as the two DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were due to a boat collision at the start line. The regatta continues to draw spectators as crowds again gathered on the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region and the spectator area in the Twice Bitten region. This weeks fleet was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class. Two Bandit 25Rs made up the remainder of the fleet.

As a note, five sailors were disqualified (DSQ) from the first race for failing to round the green buoy in the Farragut region, which is a course mark listed on the course map and in the USB navigation card. We would like to remind everyone to get to the races early, giving yourselves time to familiarize yourself with the days courses and plan your racing lines.

This weeks Cat Fight at Backwater Bay Yacht Club saw some great sailing weather, spectator turnout, and some commotion. The Bingo Strait regions continued their recent streak of smooth sim behavior as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were due to crashes. However, the DNFs that were recorded on the day were actually to sailors ignoring an instruction during the skippers meeting before the first race, repeated again right before the race clock was started, that the race line was set to one direction and what direction to cross in order to record a lap. Four sailors in the first race crossed the race line in the incorrect direction and thus did not finish the race. All of the preceding played out in front of a rather enthusiastic crowd that had gathered to watch the races on the race dock in the Woodfall region. The second race saw no such commotion, with the entire fleet, comprised of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows and one TMS Nacra 17, finishing the race.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta saw some nice sailing region weather along with a great fleet and spectator turnout. The Bingo Strait regions continued their well behaved manner as only one of the two DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were due to crashes. The other DNF was due to a phone call taking ViV out of race two, which was a shame as she was running up front with the Bandit 25r pack in her Star Class. Spectator turnout was wonderful as people crowded our small race dock in the Woodfall region, along with the viewing areas in the Twice Bitten region. This weeks fleet, sailing both races on BBYC Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class with five Bandit 25Rs making up the remainder.

Race Director: Daenerys
Wind: SE (135°) 18kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1

Today’s winner was Blair (Blair Karas), with Astrid (AstridNewBonham Resident) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
