Saturday afternoon, tt was a beautiful day for sailing. This time we had eight Bandit IFs, including two with crew.
The North Sea regions behaved well. However, during the first race two tropical storms arose in the Fruit Islands waters.

We had a great and surprising start, with a group of three boats in the lead. However, they got the first storm in the Jambul region. After some survived the first storm, they were faced with the second storm in the Feijoa region. This quickly thinned the fleet.

The second race started with a nice start and the fleet remained close together until the last buoy. It was a competition that an RD prefers. No violations and everyone behaved on the water.

We had three DNFs (Did Not Finish) through both races, however it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Smooth seas, that turned stormy late, with a nice fleet turnout featured during this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea were smooth and calm for the first race, with one DNF (Did Not Finish) recorded due to a skippers internet connection dropping. The seas got choppy during the second race as a storm blew in, resulting in three more DNFs. Two of those late DNFs were due to skippers crashing with the third the result of a skipper sailing across region corners1. The crowd that was gathered on the small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, and along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, reveled in the fleet-foiled feline frenzy from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana and North Sea Extreme courses, was comprised of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. Two Wildwind AC-45s, and one TMS Nacra 17 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Mild seas, with another great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The regions of The North Sea started out a bit choppy for some, as four DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded during the small boat portion. Of those four DNFs, three were due to crashes with the remaining DNF due to a skipper pulling her boat. The sim sailing weather calmed down a bit for the big boat portion with only one DNF recorded due to a crash. Skippers still had a tough task ahead of them as both fleets were large, for the respective boat sizes involved, with a lot of race traffic to contend with. Even with the slightly choppy conditions, the spectators that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, as well as on the small race dock and Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, both in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the great display of racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of a majority of six Bandit IFs, five sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. Four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Nacra 17s, three Quest M-24s, three Bandit 25Rs, one TMS Star Class, one TMS Flying Shadow, and one Dolphin Moth rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Outer Inner Loop (OIL) course, was comprised of a majority of six Wildwind Open 60s. Two Wildwind AC-45s, one ACA33, one Trudeau 12 Metre, one TMS Pacha 110, and one TMS One Design 65 rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.

Saturday afternoon, it was a beautiful day for sailing. This time we had eleven Bandit IFs, including three with crew.
The North Sea regions behaved reasonably well. We had a nice start with a surprising start of a sailor that went almost flawlessly. A number of sailors were too high on the starting line, so they had to tack again to start. After the start, the head of the fleet stayed together for a long time, making it exciting until the end.

The second race started with a nice start and two sailors managed to separate themselves from the fleet quite quickly. However, a group of six to seven boats stayed together for a long time, which kept the race exciting until the end

We had two DSQs (Disqualified) and six DNFs (Did Not Finish) through both races, however it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Smooth seas, with a nice fleet turnout, featured during this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea were behaved for most, as of the four DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day, only one was due to a skipper crashing on a region border crossing. The three remaining DNFs were due to a skipper hitting region corners, you can not be in four regions at once, a skipper pulling her boat after her navigation HUD failed, and a skipper pulling her boat from frustration after the 21 knot wind in the second race was too much for her sailing single-handed. Smooth seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were well behaved as of the five DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day, three during the first race and two during the second respectively, only one DNF was due to a skipper crashing outright. The three DNFs during the first race were due to skippers pulling their boats, one skipper got herself stuck aground, another skipper’s boat’s scripts malfunctioned, and a third pulled her boat due to frustration. Of the two DNFs during the second race, one was due to an outright crash, the other was due to a skipper tacking across region corners. The crowds gathered on the small race dock, in the Eden Jakana region, and on the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, were reveling in the close racing on display form this weeks Bandit fleet. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 and North Sea WC Reach 2 courses, was comprised of a majority of eight Bandit IFs, seven sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. Six Bandit 25Rs rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Saturday afternoon, it was a beautiful day for sailing. This time we had six Bandit IFs including one with crew.

The North Sea regions behaved reasonably well. However, we had the first dropout not long after the start. This race went quite well and exciting because we had a group of three boats that stayed close together, but one of them took the lead and never let go. The second place was decided at the end of the last leg.

The second race started very energetically for all sailors, nevertheless they got a storm halfway through the race before them, so we had two dropouts. Two other sailors fell out of the boat but were able to jump into the boat, so that they could continue sailing. The race was decided by these two sailors on the finish line and brought us a surprising new winner.

We had two DSQs (Disqualified) and three DNFs (Did Not Finish) through both races, however it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Today’s winner was Tamar (Tamara Czervik), with Siri (Sirius Rosca) second, and Dunia (Dunia Moulliez) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Max ( Maximiliano Szondi) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for sailing an incorrect course, missing the second course mark in the Eden Shag region. He was sailing North Sea The Bridge course instead of North Sea Scampi course.

Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for finishing the race failing to complete a 360° penalty turn as instructed by a race director due to a Rule 10 foul against another skipper.

Tamar (Tamara Czervik) and Siri (Sirius Rosca) both finished tied with 3 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
Tamara Czervik 2 1
Sirius Rosca 1 2

In the last race, Tamarushka breaks the tie with Siri with her first place finish over Siri’s second place finish.

Dunia (Dunia Moulliez) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident ) both finished tied with 7 points.

Dunia Moulliez 4 3
ruggeromare Resident 3 4

In the last race, Dunia breaks the tie with Rugger with her third place finish over Rugger’s forth place finish.

Max (Maximiliano Szondi) and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) both finished tied with 9 points. As they both have the exact same finishes, finishing with a five point finish during the first race and a four point finish during the second race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Max and Jack remain tied in fifth place overall.

Smooth seas and a nice fleet turnout highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea were smooth and behaved as the only DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day, one a piece in both races, were due to a skippers Wifi connection lagging out on her. The crowds that gathered on the observation deck of the lighthouse in the Ziziphus region, and on the island in the Genip region, were cheering on the fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink and North Sea Snipe courses, was comprised of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s and one Wildwind AC-45 rounded out the catamaran fleet for the first race. For the second race, the Wildwind AC-45 skipper switched out to her TMS Nacra 17 and another skipper arrived to sail his TMS Flying Shadow.
