Calm seas, with another great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were behaved for most as five DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. Of those five DNFs, four were due to skippers crashing while hitting region corners. The remaining DNF was due to a skipper pulling his boat after a rough crossing caused his scripts to stop functioning. The crowd that assembled on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and boardwalk, in the Eden Jakana region, as well as along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, cheered on some great tight-knit fleet racing on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 and North Sea 02 courses, was comprised of a majority of fourteen Bandit 22 LTEs, one Bandit 25, one Bandit IF, and one Bandit 60 for the first race. The second race saw the fleet composition change slightly as some skippers switched out their Bandit 22s for two more Bandit IFs, and a Bandit 50/3 X.

Saturday saw the North Sea Bandit IF races take place on a beautiful fall afternoon. This time we had a fleet of nine Bandit IFs at the start. Two of the nine Bandit IFs had crew. The North Sea regions and Eden Naturist Estate regions were well behaved and there was not a cloud in the sky.

We had a good start and one of the skippers started from port tack and immediately took the lead over the group of eight. The first mark was completed without any problems. Halfway through Eden we had a front runner with two pursuers, followed by another group of two. After the race ended, we had an extended fleet. The leader took a completely different route to the finish than all other skippers.

The start of the second race went very well. The group of eight boats stayed together until the first mark and on the way to Eden we had a group of three skippers sailing together head to head. In the Eden Pigeon region, the leading group was still well together and it seemed that the race would be settled on the finish line. However, one of the skippers said goodbye to the two other front runners by sailing a different route. This decision made the race’s outcome decided by the time they were in the Eden Sparrow region.

The start of the third race went well. The remaining seven boats stayed together until after the first mark in the Sapodilla region. After the fleet entered Eden past the two statues in the Eden Gateway region, we had a front runner with three pursuers. In the new region “Smooth Sailing”, the front runner was overtaken by the chasing group. At the Eden Pigeon region, one of the front runners took a different route to the last mark in the Eden Snowfinch region, as it turned out that the leading group had been given a different order. Two of the front runners here took away from the third boat and decided the race on the finish line.

We had two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea.

The North Sea regions were well behaved for everyone as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day was due to a skipper crashing from crossing at region corners. The crowd that assembled on the small race dock, in the Eden Jakana region, and along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, reveled in the frantic fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta Reverse and North Sea Extreme Reverse courses, was comprised of a majority of ten The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing with crew and six sailing single-handed respectively. Four TMS Nacra 17s rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Bandit B22: JRider, uicy, Rugger, Katana, Moon, Diana, Sea, Baluta, Julie
Star Class: Emileigh, Amy Pond, Jackson, Siri, Kim
Committee boat:: Tamarushka, Daenerys

This weeks Triple Threat took place on a cool Thursday afternoon in November, with good sailing weather and the wind coming from the south west. Today we had nine Bandit 22 LTEs and five Star Class on the starting line.

In the first race we had a massive start and during the first leg two Stars went wrong to hit the fleet from port tack. The rounding of the buoys went smoothly, however we lost four boats during this race and one boat forgot to round the buoy in the Ziziphus region.

In the second race we had a smaller fleet. The fleet soon fell apart and two skippers retired during the race.

We had six DNFs (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea

Today’s winners on the Star Class were Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook), with Siri (Sirius Rosca) second, and Amy (Montserrat Naidoo in third place.

Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Jack (Jacquimo Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for sailing an incorrect course.

Sea (filax Carter) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) finished tied with 5 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2

ruggeromare Resident 2 3

In the last race, Sea breaks the tie with Rugger with her second place finish over Rugger’s third place finish.

Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Diana (Dianafra Allen) both finished tied with 14 points. As they both have the exact same finishes, finishing with a seven point finish during the first race and a seven point finish during the second race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Julie and Diana remain tied in fourteenth place overall.

Mild seas, with a fresh breeze, and a wonderful fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were calm for most, as out of 20 skippers, four DNFs (Did Not finish) were recorded in each race. Of those DNFs, five were due to skippers crossing on regions borders. We have to remind everyone once again, due to your avatar not being able to exist in four regions at once, crossing at a region corner will crash you. The remaining three DNFs were due to two skippers crashing on border crossings, and a third having a misconfigured navigation HUD. The crowd that assembled on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, and on the observation deck of the lighthouse in the Ziziphus region, cheered on the great tight-knit racing on display from this weeks large fleet. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Manta course, was comprised of a majority of fourteen Bandit 22 LTEs. Four Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew, one Bandit 25, and one Bandit 50/3 X rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Race Notes:
Zoda (Shakhzoda Resident) and Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) both finished the second race tied with a final time of 0:11:13. As the final time result is rounded to the nearest whole second in the Google Sheet, the exact final times for each skipper are: (race time multiplied by handicap equaling final time, all time in seconds)

Skipper Race Time Handicap Final Time
Shakhzoda 897 0.75 672.75
JulieRoyale 1005 0.67 673.35

With the final times shown in seconds, the tie breaks in Zoda’s favor with having a 672.75 seconds finish over Julie’s 673.35 seconds finish. Just to note, if both skippers final times had been an exact tie, Rule A7 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing would be used to break that tie instead:

If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Sirius (Sirius Rosca) and Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) both finished tied with 11 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

Max (Maximiliano Szondi) and Juicy (juice651 Resident) both finished tied with 29 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Maximiliano Szondi 13 16
juice651 Resident 14 15

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Max’s favor with having a thirteenth place finish over Juicy’s fourteenth place finish as his best.

Sea (filax Carter) and BalutA (balut24 Resident) both finished tied with 34 points. As they both have the exact same finishes in each race, a DNF (Did Not Finish) in each race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking this tie. Therefore, Sea and BalutA remain tied in eighteenth place overall.

Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) and Niamene (niamene Resident) finished tied with 38 points.

Rayzza Rubble 21 17

Saturday afternoon was a stormy fall afternoon. This time we had a fleet of eight Bandit IFs at the start. Two of the eight Bandit IFs had crew. After the first match, another Bandit joined the group.

Today we had three short routes and with the higher wind force, the fleet was pulled apart quite quickly. However, we would also have many dropouts due to the stormy weather. Some sailors were unlucky and others gave up.

We had nine DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea.

Mild sim sailing weather, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea were behaved for most as four DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, split evenly at two in each race. Of those DNFs, two were attributed to skippers hitting region corners, while the remainder were from crashes on region crossings. The crowd that assembled on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, and along the shores of the island in the Genip region, cheered on some exciting fleet-foiled feline racing on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink and North Sea Butterfly courses, was comprised of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. Three TMS Nacra 17s, and one Wildwind AC-45 rounded out the fleet for the first race. The second race saw the fleet makeup change slightly, as a skipper changed out his TMS Nacra 17 for a Wildwind AC-62.

Edit: A skippers boat was mis-attributed for the first race and has been corrected. As a result, the final results have been updated.

A beautiful Thursday afternoon in November, with good sailing weather and the wind coming from the south west and not a single thunderstorm to be seen. Today we had four Bandit 22 LTEs, three Star Class and six Bandit IFs on the starting line.

In the first race we had a group of ten boats that were together from the start and slowly fell apart, because this group consisted of different classes. You could see that skippers learn every time and sail each other less and less.

In the second race we had a group of seven boats who chose their own way right after the start, making them sail from different directions to the first mark in Sapote. to sail. All in all, they were two great matches.

We had five DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea

Calm to mild sim sailing weather, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were behaved for most as only three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, one occurring during the small boat portion and two occurring during the big boat portion respectively. The crowd that assembled on the small race dock and Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, both in the Eden Jakana region, and along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, cheered on some great fleet racing on display from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two Bandit 25Rs, two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, one sailing with crew and one sailing single-handed respectively, one TMS Nacra 17, one Dolphin Moth, and one Trudeau Patchogue II rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished the small boat portion tied with a final time of 0:10:50. As the final time result is rounded to the nearest whole second in the Google Sheet, the exact final times for each skipper are: (race time multiplied by handicap equaling final time, all time in seconds)

Skipper Race Time Handicap Final Time
jnx1e 866 0.75 649.50
moonglownight 867 0.75 650.25

With the final times shown in seconds, the tie breaks in Jenna’s favor with having a 649.50 seconds finish over Moon’s 650.25 seconds finish.
