The fleet gets underway at the start of the small boat portion of the North Sea Open Regatta, on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020.
Stormy to clear seas, with another great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The regions of The North Sea were stormy throughout the small boat portion as all five DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were recorded in that race. Of those five DNFs, one was due to a skipper pulling her boat after she lost her navigation HUD, with the remaining four DNFs due to crashes on region borders. The seas cleared up, however, as it was smooth sailing for the entirety of the big boat portion with every skipper finishing the race. The crowds on hand, gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, and on the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, were cheering on both of this weeks large fleets.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana course, was comprised of a split majority of four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Nacra 17s and four Bandit 25Rs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing with crew and one sailing single-handed, one TMS Flying Shadow, one TMS Star Class, and one Shields Class made up the remainder of this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Snipe course, was comprised of a small majority of four Wildwind Open 60s. Three TMS One Design 65s, two TMS Volvo Open 70s, one Wildwind RC-44r, one Wildwind AC-62, and one ACA33 made up the remainder of this weeks big boat fleet.

Sirius (Sirius Rosca) and Palani (Palani Allen) both finished tied with 22 points. As they have the exact same finishes in each portion, a DNF (Did Not Finish) and a DNS (Did Not Start) respectively, neither Ruler A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking this tie. Therefore, Sirus and Palani remain tied in thirteenth place overall.
