Choppy to calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were a bit stormy at the start, as four DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded. Of those four DNFs, all occurring during the first race, three were from skippers crashing while crossing region corners. The remaining DNF was due to a skipper pulling his boat and logging. The seas calmed for the second race, as every skipper finished with nary a hiccup. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses on the islands in the Genip, and Ziziphus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the frenzied fleet-foiled feline fury on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Torpedo and North Sea Extreme Reverse courses, was made up of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, six sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. One WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Assistant Race Director: Emileigh

Wind: SW (225°) 18kts

Wind: SW (225°) 21kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1

Today’s winner was Aymalie (Aymalie Resident), with Daenerys (blondij Resident) second, and Jenna (jnx1e Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Juicy (juice651 Resident) both finished tied with 12 points. As they both have the exact same finishes, a DNF (Did Not Finish) during the first race and a DNS (Did Not Start) during the seconr race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Moon and Juicy remain tied in seventh place overall.
