The last Saturday in July saw a beautiful summer afternoon for racing. This time we had a fleet of nine Bandit IF’s at the start. One of the nine Bandit IF’s had crew and it had to drop out at the first start. The North Sea and Fruit regions behaved well and there was not a cloud in the sky.
Today we would sail three races. In the first race, the fleet would stay together until the third leg. Then groups arose, eventually becoming groups of duos. We would see this happen in the other two races. At the second race we had a compact fleet until we approached the first mark. There, two skippers lost control of the boat, but would later recover. One of the two skippers then held a catch-up race, which created a group of two with the pursuers. In the third race, the fleet spread out to the first mark, only to come together again, creating duos right away.
We had two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and none DSQs (Disqualified) through all races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea.

Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Siri (Sirius Rosca) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Siri (Sirius Rosca) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) finished tied with 7 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 | Race 3 |
Sirius Rosca | 6 | 4 | 3 |
ruggeromare Resident | 8 | 3 | 4 |
In the last race, Sirius breaks the tie with Rugger with his third place finish over Rugger’s fourth place finish.
Note: Siri’s and Rugger’s Race 1 scores are included even though they are excluded scores, per the last line of Rule A8.2 “These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.”
