The crowds that gathered on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in a thrilling display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Short Mirror course and a two lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop Mirror course, was made up of a majority of seven Bandit 22 LTEs. Four Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively, and one Bandit 25r rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet in the first race. For the second race, a Bandit 22 skipper opted for his Bandit IF instead.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF was attributed to a skipper crashing while she crossed over region corners during the first race. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Roundabout course, was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively, one Bandit 25r, and one Bandit 50/3 rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Today’s winner was Jenna (jnx1e Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Sea (filax Carter) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.

Race Notes:
Ester (citacg Resident) was charged with a Did Not Start (DNS) during the second race due to being over the startline early, before the countdown clock reached 00:00, while never going back around to record a start. This was after notification from the start line, in local chat, and notification from a race director. A prescription to all North Sea races, a skipper must go around and re-cross the line to record a proper start if they are over the line early. Failing to record a proper start results in being charged with a DNS for that race.

Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Sea (filax Carter) finished tied with 5 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
moonglownight Resident 3 2
filax Carter 2 3

In the last race, Moon breaks the tie with Sea with his second place finish over Sea’s third place finish.

Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) both finished tied with 13 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Nicole Myhre 4 9
ruggeromare Resident 6 7

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Zimtzicke’s favor with having a fourth place finish over Rugger’s sixth place finish as his best.

Roland (roland Eun) and Diana (Dianafra Allen) finished tied with 22 points.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
roland Eun 12 10
Dianafra Allen 10 12

In the last race, Roland breaks the tie with Diana with his tenth place finish over Diana’s twelfth place finish.

Calm to choppy seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a moderate breeze of 11 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, occurring during the first race, was due to a skipper being overly scripted causing her to crash on several consecutive region borders. After she scripted down from 104 scripts, she had no issues during the second race. The remaining two DNFs happened during the second race, as two skippers crashed on a border crossing, three regions from the finish line. The crowds that gathered around the lighthouses in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 and North Sea 02 courses, was made up of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively, and one Bandit 50/3 rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Race Notes:
Aymalie (Aymalie Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race due to failing to complete a 360° penalty turn as instructed by a race director for a Rule 19.2 Giving Room at an Obstruction foul.

19.2 Giving Room at an Obstruction
(b) When boats are overlapped, the outside boat shall give the inside boat room between her and the obstruction,
unless she has been unable to do so from the time the overlap began.

Sea (filax Carter) was disqualified during the second race for sailing an incorrect course, she rounded the second course mark incorrectly, the pink buoy in the Sloe region, counter-clockwise instead of clockwise.

Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) and Alex (Alex0730 Resident) both finished the first race tied at the finishing line with a time of 13:22. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:

If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Therefore, both Zimtzicke and Alex receive 5.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 5 and 6, added together and divided equally.

Sea (filax Carter) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) both finished tied with 13 points.

Hannah (HannahRaines Resident) and Filo (Filo Minnelli) both finished tied with 18 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
