The first bandit IF Regatta in 2022. I thought it would be easy because I only chose one route. but an incorrectly set orb already threw a spanner in the works and I had to change the route and add an extra mark to the race. Most skippers didn’t seem to mind the adjustment. Eight Bandit If boats took off. One boat had crew on board. The start went smoothly even though some skippers were a little behind the fleet, but the trip was long so anything could happen and the route went partly through the Fruit Islands. Here you could easily get lost if you slipped off your path. We had planned two laps and it was going to be an exciting race in the end.

There were two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Race Director: Daenerys
Assistant Race Directors: Tamarushka, and Cryptic

Wind: 170° (S) 18kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1

Today’s winners on the Bandit IF were Moonglownight (Moonglownight Resident), with Aymalie (Aymalie Resident) second, and Siri (Sirius Rosca) in third place.

Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Red (RedHeadJo Resident) both finished tied with 7 points. As they both have the exact same finishes,  DNFs (Did Not Finish) during the race, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Red (RedHeadJo Resident) both remain tied in seventh place overall.

The last1 North Sea Bandit IF Regatta of 2021 took place on a beautiful December Saturday afternoon. Today, the races were held Eden Curlew. This time we had a fleet of seven Bandit IFs at the start. One Bandit IF had crew on board. The North Sea regions behaved well and there was not a cloud in the sky.

We sailed two races.  In the first race we started with compact fleet and sailed from Eden Curlew to Dragonfruit. In the second race we sailed to a small area of the fruit Islands.  Between the islands we lost three skippers.

We had three DNFs (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through all races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea.

1As is tradition in The North Sea, we will be going on a holiday break starting Monday, December 20th, 2021, through Saturday, January 1st, 2022. In the years past, we have held no races during the holiday weeks. This year, at the request of several skippers, we will be holding our Open Regatta on Wednesday, December 22nd, and Wednesday, December, 29th. All other North Sea races will be postponed for the holidays. Our full racing schedule will resume on January 3rd, 2022. From everyone at North Sea Racing, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season.

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race.
