Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful day for sailing. This time we had ten Bandit IFs, including four with crew.
The North Sea regions behaved very well.
The first race went smoothly and the fleet stayed together for a long time. Several mutual fights started, which kept the race exciting. From the start, two boats broke away from the fleet to rejoin the fleet at the first buoy. A skipper managed not to give room at two buoys, so he had to make two 360° penalty turns.

The second race went smoothly and the fleet stayed together almost to the end. Also in this competition, mutual fights ensued, so that it remained spanned for a long time. However, the competition was dominated from start to finish by a skipper who slipped ahead of the fleet during the start.

We had one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races, and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident second, and Ultra (ultramantra Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Silvia (Silvan Mertel) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for sailing an incorrect route.

Moon (moonglownight Resident), Ultra (ultramantra Resident) and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) all finished tied with 7 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
moonglownight Resident 2 5
ultramantra Resident 3 4
Jacquimo Resident 3 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Moon’s favor with having a second place finish over Ultra’s and Jack’s third place as their best. Furthermore, as Ultra and Jacksboth have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to further break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
ultramantra Resident 4 3
Jacquimo Resident 3 4

In the last race, Ultra breaks the tie with Jackson with his third place finish over Jack’s fourth place finish.

Red (RedHeadJO Resident) and Siri (Sirius Rosca) both finished tied with 12 points.

RedHeadJO Resident 5 7
Sirius Rosca 6 6

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Red’s favor with having a fifth place finish over Siri’s sixth place as his best.
