Some mildly rough sim sailing weather, with another great spectator turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of the North Sea had stretches of calmness with some spots of turbulence as five DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, two during the first race and three during the second race respectively. During the first race, one DNF was attributed to a boat’s scripts ceasing to function while another was due to a crash, this same skipper would also crash and record a DNF during the second race. The remaining DNFs in the second race were due to a skipper and his crew having to leave suddenly, with the last DNF due to a crash to desktop. The spectators on hand still enjoyed a great display of racing from this weeks fleet, as they watched from atop the lighthouse on the island in the Ziziphus region, and from the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Manta course, was comprised of a majority of five Bandit IFs, two sailing with crew and three sailing single-handed, respectively. Four Bandit 25Rs and one Bandit 50/3 made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1

Today’s winner was Daenerys (blondij Resident), with UL (ultramantra Resident) second, and Sirius (Sirius Rosca) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.

Race Notes:
Teagan (Teagan Snowpaw) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) finished tied with 15 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
Teagan Snowpaw 8 7
Maximiliano Szondi 7 8

In the last race, Teagan breaks the tie with Max with her seventh place finish over Max’s eighth place finish.
