Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the first North Sea Bandit Regatta for March, 2023. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, recorded during the first race, was from a skipper’s internet connection giving out due to stormy weather in her neighborhood. The remaining DNF, recorded during the second race, was from a skipper crashing while crossing over region corners. The crowds that gathered on the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, were thrilled by an enlivened display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 107 and North Sea 108 courses, was made up of a majority of six Bandit 22 LTEs. Four Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively, one Bandit 25R, and one Bandit 50/3 rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Race Notes:
Vicky (Vicky4698 Resident), ViV (vivipezz Resident), and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) all finished tied with 13 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Vicky’s favor with having a first place finish over ViV’s and Red’s fifth place finishes as their best.

As ViV and Red both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this remaining tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were generally well behaved, as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. Two of those DNFs were due to skippers crashing while crossing over region corners. The remaining DNF was from a skipper pulling her boat in the second race after frustration from getting lost on the course. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on an electric display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta Reverse and North Sea Bowline Reverse courses, was made up of a majority of nine Bandit 22 LTEs. One Bandit 25, and one Bandit 50/3 rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Ester (citacg Resident) both finished the first race tied at the finishing line with a time of 15:30. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Therefore, both Moon and Ester receive 6.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 6 and 7, added together and divided equally.

Race Notes:
Ester (citacg Resident) was charged with a Did Not Start (DNS) during the second race due to being over the startline early, before the countdown clock reached 00:00, while never going back around to record a start. This was after notification from the start line, in local chat, and notification from a race director. A prescription to all North Sea races, a skipper must go around and re-cross the line to record a proper start if they are over the line early. Failing to record a proper start results in being charged with a DNS for that race.

Calm to choppy seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a moderate breeze of 11 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, occurring during the first race, was due to a skipper being overly scripted causing her to crash on several consecutive region borders. After she scripted down from 104 scripts, she had no issues during the second race. The remaining two DNFs happened during the second race, as two skippers crashed on a border crossing, three regions from the finish line. Calm to slightly choppy seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were generally behaved albeit a little finicky as although all skippers finished both races, there were several region crossing crashes in both races. Those skipepers were able to re-board their boats and continue. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. Smooth to slightly choppy seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were calm for the fleet during the first race as every skipper finished. This weeks fleet for the first race, sailing on the North Sea SS-01 (Second Sailstice) course, was made up of a majority if seven Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing crewed and one sailing single-handed respectively, and one Bandit 25r rounded out the first race fleet.
