Great sailing weather and a varied boat turnout featured during the first Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta of 2019. The Bingo Strait regions were well behaved as there were zero crashes and DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. The fleet turnout was not only numerous but varied as boats from six creators dipped their hulls in the regatta.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the BBYC W1 course, was comprised of a majority of four Quest Melges-24s. Two Bandit 25Rs, a TMS (The Mesh Shop) Laser One, a TMS Star Class, a TMS Nacra 17, and a Bandit IF made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of a majority of three TMS One Design 65s. One TMS Volvo Open 70, one TMS Ushuaia, one Wildwind RC-44r, one Trudeau 12 Metre, and one ACA33 made up the remainder of the big boat fleet.
