Rocky sailing sim weather featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The regions in the Bingo Strait were foul tempered as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, all during the first race as both Palani and Moon succumbed to the Bingo Strait’s hunger. After the foiling feline sacrifice in the first race, the seas calmed down to allow all boats in the second race to finish. This weeks fleet, racing on the BBYC 05 and BBYC 04 Rev 1 courses, was comprised of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. One lone TMS Nacra 17 made up the remainder of the fleet.

Julnara, with Equen in her TMS Flying Shadow, and Daenerys, in her TMS Flying Shadow, cross the start line during race 2 of the Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight, on Friday, March 29th, 2019.

Today’s winner was Julnara (Julnara Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Palani (Palani Allen) tied in second, and Daenerys (blondij Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Palani (Palani Allen) both finished tied with 5 points. As they have identical finishes in each race, a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the first race and a DNS (Did Not Start) in the second race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 nor Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking this tie, therefore they both remained tied in second place overall.

On the dock: Caethes, Cryptic, Joshua, and Bernard.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta featured nice sim sailing weather along with a great spectator turnout. The regions in Bingo Strait were well behaved for the most part as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day, Lampoon crashing on the final leg of BBYC Olympic Race Course (Long) during the small boat portion. As a result, the crowds gathered along the villa pier front in the Twice Bitten region and along the break wall in the Woodfall region were witness to some great racing throughout both portions of the Regatta.

This weeks small boat fleet, racing on BBYC Olympic Race Course (Long), was comprised of an equal mix of two Bandit 25Rs, two Bandif IFs, and two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, racing on the BBYC 12 course, was comprised of a majority of four Wildwind Open 60s. One TMS Volvo Open 70 and one TMS Ushuaia made up the remainder of the big boat fleet.

Bingo Strait foisted finicky foul weather conditions for this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta. Three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, all during the first race, a two lap affair on the BBYC Up And Down course, due to rough region conditions in Bingo Strait. However, the regions settled down as better sailing weather blew in for the second race, a run on BBYC Olympic Race Course (Short), with the entire fleet finishing. This weeks fleet was comprised of an even split of three Bandit IFs and three Bandit 25Rs for race one . Rossafiore took her leave with her Bandit 25R after the conclusion of race one, with ViV joining the fleet for race two, in her The Mesh Shop Star Class.

The fleet gets underway during the start of the first race for the Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta on Monday, March 25th, 2019.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight saw some rough sim sailing weather at the start but conditions calmed for the rest of the race. The regions in the Bingo Strait were fickle as they claimed Joshua, on his The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadow, right after the start line, during race one, for the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day. After Josh’s sacrifice, the regions calmed and allowed smooth sailing for the rest of the day. This weeks fleet, sailing on the BBYC 10 and BBYC 12 courses, was comprised entirely of TMS Flying Shadows.

The Second Life Status page messages just before the start of the Backwater Bay Open Regatta, that prevented and also crashed residents across Second Life™ on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019. #justSLthings

The conditions for the Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta were anything but pleasant. The Second Life™ platform was going through emergency maintenance to its login servers which in effect either crashed most who were logged in at the time, or prevented others from logging in. Yet, we still had several show up to race and even watch. Red was able to bring out her Bandit IF, Donkey, along with Nihiwatu, who had her own Bandit IF. The big boat portion of the regatta was abandoned as it was evident that the ongoing maintenance was preventing anyone from attending due to restricted login access, see Login Maintenance and Host Upgrade from the Second Life Status page.

The Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta saw the sailing week get off to a trouble free start. The regions in Bingo Strait appear to have had a restful weekend as they behaved well resulting in no DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. Spectators enjoyed the crash free sailing showcase from the frontage pier of the Villa in the Twice Bitten region, and the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region. This weeks fleet, sailing on the BBYC 05 course and BBYC Olympic Race Course (Long), was evenly mixed between two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, two Bandit IFs, and two Bandit 25Rs.

Excellent sim sailing weather and a great fleet turnout featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta. The regions in Bingo Strait behaved well as not a single DNF (Did Not Finish) was a result from bad crossings or crashing. The only DNF on the day was due to a sailor pulling their boat three regions from the finish line and leaving. A small crowd turned out to witness both races from both the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region and at the lighthouse islands in the Nimitz and Rodel regions.

Semi-smooth sim sailing weather featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. With Linden Lab attending too and repairing the Farragut region earlier in the week, at Elbag’s request, we were able to return to running courses through that portion of Bingo Strait. Both courses on the day, BBYC 05 and BBYC 12, run through Farragut and all crossings were smooth there. However, the southern channel of Nautilus City would prove to be more stubborn as the two DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were claimed there, near the Howe region crossing. This weeks fleet, comprised entirely of The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows, otherwise had no lag issues as the rest of the regions behaved well.
