The first Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight of 2019 saw stormy regions with fast racing. The regions of Bingo Strait were unhappy as rough region crossings were the cause of three DNFs (Did Not Finish) during the first race and one DNF during the second race. Racing was fast however, as the fleet of all The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows saw winds of 21 kts from the southwest. Spectators were pleased with the speed as they gathered along the waterfront of the villa in the Twice Bitten region and also the lighthouse island in the Rodel region.

Race Director: Cryptic
Wind: SW (225°) 21kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1

Today’s winner was Isa (isab DeCuir), with Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) second, and Julnara (Julnara Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Julnara (Julnara Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Julnara Resident 2 4
moonglownight Resident 3 3

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Julnara’s favor with having a second place finish over Moon’s third place finish as his best.
