On the dock: Caethes, Cryptic, Joshua, and Bernard.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta featured nice sim sailing weather along with a great spectator turnout. The regions in Bingo Strait were well behaved for the most part as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day, Lampoon crashing on the final leg of BBYC Olympic Race Course (Long) during the small boat portion. As a result, the crowds gathered along the villa pier front in the Twice Bitten region and along the break wall in the Woodfall region were witness to some great racing throughout both portions of the Regatta.

This weeks small boat fleet, racing on BBYC Olympic Race Course (Long), was comprised of an equal mix of two Bandit 25Rs, two Bandif IFs, and two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, racing on the BBYC 12 course, was comprised of a majority of four Wildwind Open 60s. One TMS Volvo Open 70 and one TMS Ushuaia made up the remainder of the big boat fleet.

The Second Life Status page messages just before the start of the Backwater Bay Open Regatta, that prevented and also crashed residents across Second Life™ on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019. #justSLthings

The conditions for the Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta were anything but pleasant. The Second Life™ platform was going through emergency maintenance to its login servers which in effect either crashed most who were logged in at the time, or prevented others from logging in. Yet, we still had several show up to race and even watch. Red was able to bring out her Bandit IF, Donkey, along with Nihiwatu, who had her own Bandit IF. The big boat portion of the regatta was abandoned as it was evident that the ongoing maintenance was preventing anyone from attending due to restricted login access, see Login Maintenance and Host Upgrade from the Second Life Status page.

The Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta saw the sailing week get off to a trouble free start. The regions in Bingo Strait appear to have had a restful weekend as they behaved well resulting in no DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. Spectators enjoyed the crash free sailing showcase from the frontage pier of the Villa in the Twice Bitten region, and the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region. This weeks fleet, sailing on the BBYC 05 course and BBYC Olympic Race Course (Long), was evenly mixed between two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, two Bandit IFs, and two Bandit 25Rs.

On the dock: Cryptic, Joshua, Bianca, and Rugger.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta saw some calm sim sailing weather with a nice fleet turnout. The regions of Bingo Strait behaved well as only one of the three DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day was directly attributed to a bad region crossing. The other two DNFs were from both sailors pulling their boats early from sailing both an incorrect course and frustration with their own boat.

The fleet turnout this week was nice as the small boat fleet, sailing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of a slim majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. Two TMS Nacra 17s, two Bandit IFs, two Bandit 25Rs, and one TMS Star Class made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the BBYC 12 course, was comprised of two TMS One Design 65s, one TMS Volvo Open 70, one TMS Ushuaia, one Wildwind Open 60, and one Wildwind AC-45.

Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) and Ana (Ana Harcourt) both finished tied with 15 points. As both have the exact same finishes in each race, a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the small boat portion and a DNS (Did Not Start) in the big boat portion, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Rayz and Ana remain tied in eleventh place overall.

Stormy conditions that turned calmer featured in this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta. The regions of Bingo Strait started out choppy as both DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were recorded during the first race due to crashes from poor region stability. Conditions improved dramatically for the second race as every boat in the fleet finished with reports of smooth sailing sim weather. This weeks fleet, racing on BBYC Lighthouse Race and BBYC Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of a majority of five Bandit 25Rs with one lone Bandit IF making up the remainder of the fleet.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta showcased a great crowd of spectators and sailors with smooth sailing weather. Spectators turned out in force again as the water front to the villa in the Twice Bitten region was crowded as well as the spectator pier and committee boat dock in the Woodfall region. The regions of Bingo Strait responded in kind with smooth sailing weather as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was due to the scripts in Nico’s Bandit 50 ceasing to function.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of majority of five Bandit 25Rs. Three Bandit IFs, two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, one TMS Nacra 17, and one Quest Melges-24 made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Calm sailing region weather and a nice fleet turnout featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The regions of Bingo Strait behaved well, giving us calm sailing weather as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was a result of a skipper crashing. Daenerys’s Flying Shadow zoomed off to the east, past the yellow mark in the Muta region, as she disconnected from a crash resulting in the scripts in her catamaran throwing errors on her return and a DNF. The other two DNFs on the day, both accredited to Riz, were due to incorrect courses loaded into his Ultimate Sailor Buddy HUD (USB) resulting in him pulling his boat in both races. This weeks fleet, racing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long) and the BBYC W1 course, was comprised entirely of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows in race one, with Riz opting to switch out his Flying Shadow for his TMS Nacra 17, in race two.

A new week brings a new Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta. The Bingo Strait regions behaved well as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was due to the scripts in Max’s Bandit 25 ceasing to function. Spectator turnout was great as the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region was packed along with the waterfront for the Villa in the Twice Bitten region. This week also saw the debut of a new race director for Backwater Bay Yacht Club. Victor, who is certainly not new to Secondlife sailing, has joined Backwater Bay Yacht Club and brings with him race directing experience from races in The Blake Sea. This weeks fleet, racing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long) for race one, was comprised of a majority of four Bandit 25s with a The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class as the remainder. This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta saw some nice crowds and some decent region sailing weather. Spectators once again crowded the committee boat race dock in the Woodfall region and the viewing area in the Twice Bitten region. The Bingo Strait regions again treated most of the fleet well as only Laured experienced connection issues leading to a DNF (Did Not Finish) in both portions of the regatta. This weeks small boat fleet, racing on the BBYC 04 Rev 1 course, was made up of a majority of eight The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class. One TMS Nacra 17 and one Bandit IF made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, racing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long), was made up of a split majority of two TMS Ushuaias and two TMS Volvo Open 70s. One TMS One Design 65 and one Wildwind Open 60 made up the remainder of the big boat fleet.

The fleet gets underway during the small boat portion of the Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018.
