Another week and another great fleet turnout for this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. Coming off this weekends great turnout from our Bandit IF Races, the Bandit IFs showed up in strength again making up the majority of this weeks fleet with seven boats. Three Bandit 25Rs made up the remainder of the fleet. The waters of The North Sea responded by behaving well for everyone, with only one DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day, as Ian Sunshine, a new racer in the North Sea, unfortunately crashed on the last leg of the North Sea Manta course during the first race. There was some spirited position contention among the middle of fleet, in both races, as everyone IF pack continued to volley for top position. Spectators enjoyed the spirited racing display, crowding the committee boat dock in the Eden Curlew region as well as the island in the Ziziphus region.

More pictures after the results.

Edit: The points reflected in the table for Ian (IanPixel Resident) for the second race were incorrectly noted as 2 instead of the 9 points he received from his DSQ in that race. Additionally, Madelin (madelinetresor131 Resident) was incorrectly noted as having raced a Bandit 25R in the second race instead of a Bandit IF plus not noted for her disqualification due to incorrect course in that race. Both errors have been corrected and the results adjusted accordingly.

Race Notes:
Madelin (madelinetresor131 Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) for incorrect course during the second race for rounding the white buoy in the Eden Lapwing region incorrectly on the second leg, counter-clockwise instead of clockwise.

Ian (IanPixel Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) for incorrect course during the second race for crossing the finish line without properly completing the course.

Ian (IanPixel Resident), Jackson (Jacquimo Resident), and UL (ultramantra Resident) all finished tied with 11 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
IanPixel Resident 2 9
Jacquimo Resident 4 7
ultramantra Resident 5 6

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Ian’s favor with having a second place finish over Jackson’s fourth place and UL’s fifth place finish as their best. Subsequently, Jackson further breaks the tie with UL, with his fourth place best finish over UL’s fifth place best finish.

Ian Sunshine (xxbadassxx12 Resident) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) both finished tied with 16 points.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
xxbadassxx12 Resident 6 10
Maximiliano Szondi 8 8

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Ian’s favor with having a sixth place finish over Max’s eighth place finish as his best.
