A beautiful Saturday afternoon in December was the backdrop for this weeks North Sea Bandit IF Regatta. We started with six Bandit IFs. We had a great start and Rugger took the lead right away. He was followed by Siri, Red, Julie, and Moon. This group of five stayed together nicely, until Red had to retire. Siri launched an attack on Rugger, with Moon and Julie in hot pursuit. Rugger also fell out and then we had a battle between three sailors who didn’t give each other straw. Julie saw her chance and took the lead over, Moon who would still pass Siri. Apart from the many dropouts, it was a great race.

The second race started with the three remaining skippers. Siri and Moon got off to a good start and Julie had to see that she missed the connection. Moon and Siri engaged in a nice fight for a long time, but Moon managed to secure the lead. Because the two ruffs were fighting so much, Julie saw the opportunity to slowly connect with Siri. Siri and Julie were going to put up a fight, but Siri managed to hold on to second place

There were three DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Race Director: Daenerys
Assistant Race Director: Cryptic

Wind: 100 (E) 18kts

Wind: 105° (EbS) 18kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start

Today’s winners were Moon (Moonglownight Resident), with Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) second, and Siri (Sirius Rosca) in third place.

Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Rugger (ruggeromare Resident), Red (RedHeadJo Resident) and Ulla (Ulla Rhode) all finished tied with 8 points. As they all have the exact same finishes,  DNFs (Did Not Finish) during the first race and DNSs (Did Not Start) during the second race, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Rugger (ruggeromare Resident), Red (RedHeadJo Resident) and Ulla (Ulla Rhode) all remain tied in fourth place overall.
