The first North Sea Bandit IF Regatta for May 2022 was held on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. This time we had a fleet of eight Bandit IFs at the start. The Fruit and North Sea regions behaved well.
Today we had two routes through Fruit. The skippers should keep looking for the ideal lines between the islands of Fruit.
There were two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
Race Director: Daenerys
Assistant Race Directors: Tarmarushka, and Cryptic
Wind: 180° (S) 18kts
Wind: 180° (S) 18kts
Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winners on were Julie (JulieRoyale), with Siri (Sirius Rosca) second, and Moon (Moonglownight Resident) in third place.
Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Max (Max Starostin) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for sailing an incorrect course, missing the second course mark, the Red buoy in the Cocoa region.
Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) and Zero (Sleet Zero) both finished tied with 9 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
ruggeromare Resident | 3 | 6 |
Sleet Zero | 4 | 5 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Rugger’s favor with having a third place finish over Zero’s fourth place finish as her best.
Max (Max Starostin) and Alex (Alex0730 Resident) both finished tied with 13 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Max Starostin | 5 | 8 |
