Great sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions were well behaved with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses on the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Citrus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in the thrilling fleet-foiled feline fury on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Half Mane Mirror and North Sea Hay courses, was made up of a majority of four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. One TMS Nacra 17, and one WildWind AC-62 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet during the first race. For the second race. a Flying Shadow skipper opted to use his Nacra 17 instead.

Race Notes:
Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
jnx1e Resident/td> | 2 | 4 |
moonglownight Resident | 3 | 3 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jenna’s favor with having a second place finish over Moon’s third place finish as his best.
Erin (clairehunt Resident) and Aymalie (Aymalie Resident) finished tied with 11 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
clairehunt Resident | 6 | 5 |
Aymalie Resident/td> | 5 | 6 |
In the last race, Erin breaks the tie with Aymalie with her fifth place finish over Aymalie’s sixth place finish.
