Smooth seas, with a wonderful fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were well behaved for all our skippers as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was due to a skipper hitting region corners right before the finish of the second race. This week was our monthly There and Back Again series, were the skippers sailed from one end of The North Sea Estate to the other, and then back again. The crowd that assembled on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, and subsequently hopped from the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region, the shores of the island in the Genip region, and then finally to the small race dock in the Eden Jaeger region, cheered and reveled in the tight-knit fleet racing on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 01 and North Sea Jaeger to Curlew 01 courses, was composed of a majority of twelve Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit 25Rs, and one crewed Bandit IF rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Mild sim sailing weather, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions started out generally behaved for our There and Back Again version of the regatta, with one DNF (Did Not Finish) recorded during the first race across the width of the entire North Sea estate. The seas grew slightly choppy during the second race, as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded. Of those three DNFs, one was due to a skipper pulling her boat after realizing she sailed the course backwards, another DNF was from a skipper crashing from crossing on region corners, and the final DNF was due to a skipper crashing on a border crossing. The crowd that gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, followed and cheered on the exciting racing on display across the North Sea, as they hopped to the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk region, before heading to watch the finish in the Eden Jaeger region. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 01 and North Sea Scampi courses, was made up of a majority ten Bandit 22 LTEs. Four Bandit 25Rs rounded out the fleet in the first race. The fleet composition changed slightly for the second race as two skippers switched from the Bandit 22 LTE to the Bandit IF.

With the final times shown in seconds, the tie breaks in Moon’s favor with having a 412.11 seconds finish over Daenerys’s 412.41 seconds finish. Just to note, if both skippers final times had been an exact tie, Rule A7 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing would be used to break that tie instead:

If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) both finished tied with 15 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jenna’s favor with having a first place finish over Jackson’s fifth place finish as his best.

Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) both finished tied with 22 points.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Emileigh Starbrook 9 13
Maximiliano Szondi 11 11

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Emileigh’s favor with having a ninth place finish over Max’s eleventh place finish as his best.

Great sim sailing weather and a large fleet turnout featured during this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of The North Sea were calm and well behaved as only two DNFs (Did Not Finish), were recorded on the day. Of those two DNFs, one was due to a skipper pulling her boat after her computer had issues, and the other DNF was due to a skipper crashing. The crowds that gathered along the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, as well as on the small race docks in the Eden Jakana and Eden Jeager regions, were treated to some great fleet racing from this weeks Bandit skippers as they sailed along both courses for our monthly There and Back Again series ranging the full width of the estate. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 01 and North Sea Scampi courses, was made up of a majority of nine Bandit 22 LTEs. Five Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and two sailing with crew respectively, and two Bandit 25Rs rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Race Notes:
Lokia (Lokia Float) and Meireles (Meireles Diabolito) both finished the first race tied at the finishing line with a time of 15:31. As their final time also remains tied, both having sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:

If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Therefore, both Lokia and Meireles receive 10.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 10 and 11, added together and divided equally.

Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Daenerys (blondij Resident) both finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

Stormy seas and a great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of The North Sea started out behaving for most, as sailors set off on our monthly There and Back Again series from one end of estate to the other. Three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded during the first race, two due to skippers hitting region corners and a third from a skipper crashing. The seas turned choppy during the second race as a storm blew in, with seven DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded from skippers crashing on the borders of the Eden Booby region. In light of the stormy seas, the spectators on hand, on the small dock in the Eden Jaeger region, and on the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, were still reveling in the exciting sailing on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 01 and North Sea Scampi courses, was comprised of a majority of nine Bandit IFs, seven sailing single-handed and two sailing with crew respectively. Six Bandit 25Rs rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Alexandre (WWWAAAA Resident) and Yvonne (YvonneDearly Resident) finished tied with 5 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jackson’s favor with having a fourth place finish over Emileigh’s seventh place finish as her best.

Sirius (Sirius Rosca) and Sea (filax Carter) both finished tied with 19 points. As they both have the exact same finishes in each race, DNFs in both races respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Sirius and Sea remain tied in twelfth place overall.

The regions of The North Sea were well behaved for the start of our monthly There and Back Again version of the North Sea Bandit Regatta, as all thirteen boats in the first race fleet completed the multi-raceline first race with no issues, from the Eden Curlew region raceline to the Eden Jaeger region raceline, spanning the entire North Sea estate. The regions turned a bit stormy during the start of the second race, the return trip from the Eden Jaeger raceline back to the Eden Curlew raceline, as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded from skippers crashing on region crossings. The spectators that came out to watch this weeks Bandit skippers, witnessed some great racing as they gathered on the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, as well as the marina in the Eden Murrelet region, and the small race docks in the Eden Jaeger and Eden Jakana regions. Nice sim sailing weather and a great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. This week was our featured monthly There and Back Again series, were we sail from and too both of The North Sea’s racing lines in the Eden Curlew and Eden Jaeger regions. For this months series, instead of sailing back to the Eden Curlew race line, from the Eden Jaeger race line, we sailed a course entirely on the western portion of The North Sea estate for the second race. The regions of The North Sea treated our skippers well, as only three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, two in the first race and one in the second respectively. Of the three DNFs, two were due to crashes, while the third was due to a skipper pulling her boat during the first race when her navigation HUD failed. As this weeks races used the entirely of the North Sea estate, there were many places for crowds to gather and watch our skippers. Gather the crowds did, as spectators were viewing from the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, as well as from the Pelican Sailing School, in the Eden Murrelet region. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 01 and North Sea Scampi courses, was comprised of a majority of ten Bandit IFs, eight were sailing single-handed and two were sailing with crew, respectively. Four Bandit 25Rs rounded out this weeks Bandit Fleet.
