Great sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a moderate breeze of 15 knots out of the southwest, rising to a fresh breeze of 18 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF, occurring during the first race, was from a skipper sailing to the race dock instead of the finish line, claiming he missed a mark, although he did race a correct course as witnessed by race staff. The crowds that gathered on the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in a competitive display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea SS-01 and North Sea 107 courses, was made up of a split majority of four Bandit 22 LTEs, and four Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively. One Bandit 25R rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Therefore, both Juicy and Zimtzicke receive 4.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 4 and 5, added together and divided equally.

Cate (Cate Sewell) and Juicy (juice651 Resident) both finished the second race tied at the finishing line with a time of 13:05. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:

If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Therefore, both Cate and Juicy receive 6.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 6 and 7, added together and divided equally.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish

Aymalie Resident 8 8

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Moon’s favor with having a fifth place finish over Aymalie’s eighth place finish as her best.

Calm to choppy seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea.
