Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were mostly well behaved as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, recorded during the second race, was due to a skipper crashing while crossing over region corners. The remaining DNF, also recorded during the second race, was from a skipper’s viewer crashing to her desktop while in the middle of a region. The crowds that gathered on the beaches on the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, relished the fresh fleet-foiled feline fire on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Extreme course, was made up of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, six sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. One TMS Nacra 17 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet in the first race. One Flying Shadow skipper opted to switch to his Nacra 17 for the second race.
