Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this week’s North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF, occurring during the small boat portion, was due to a skipper pulling his boat during the second leg. The crowds that gathered on the beaches of the island in the Ziziphus region, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in an energetic display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline course, was made up of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Nacra 17s. Two Bandit IFs, one sailing crewed and one single-handed respectively, two Bandit 22 LTEs, and one TMS Flying Shadow rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Lion’s Mane course, was made up of a small majority of two TMS I-Mocca 60s. One TMS One Design 65, one WildWind Open 60, and one WildWind RC-44r rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.

Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions were calm for everyone, as the three DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day were due to skippers hitting region corners, all in the second race. We will take this moment, once again, to remind our skippers to please sail with your mini-map open and be aware of your surroundings in the region as an avatar can not exist in four regions at once. The crowds that gathered on the small race dock and Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, both in the Eden Jakana region, and on the observation deck of the lighthouse on the island in the Ziziphus region, cheered on the finicky fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Double Loop and North Sea Lion’s Made courses, was made up of a majority of nine The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, five sailing single-handed and four sailing with crew respectively. Stormy seas, with a another great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. A storm rolled across the regions of The North Sea during the small boat portion, as nine DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded. Eight of those nine DNFs were the result of trouble in the Sapodilla region with two crashes to desktop in the region, two region crossing crashes heading into Sapodilla, four corner crossing hits, and one skipper pulling her boat after highly increased lag on input control after the crossing into the region. The remaining DNF in the small boat portion was the result of a skipper crashing on a border crossing heading into the Ziziphus region. At the conclusion of the small boat portion the Sapodilla region was restarted, blowing away the storm. The big boat portion saw much calmer seas, as only two DNFs were recorded, both the result of skippers crashing on region corners. In light of the stormy seas, the crowds that gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock, both in the Eden Jakana region, and along the shores of the island in the Ziziphus region, still reveled in the exciting fleet racing on display from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the newly created North Sea Half Mane course, was comprised of a majority of eight Bandit 22 LTEs. Two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two Bandit IFs, two Bandit 25Rs, two Shields Class, one TMS Star Class, and one TMS Nacra 17 rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the newly created North Sea Lion’s Mane course, was comprised of a split majority of five Trudeau 12 Metres and five Wildwind Open 60s. Two TMS One Design 65s, one Volvo Open 70, one Quest IACC, and one ACA33 rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.

Sinarielle (Sinarielle Resident), Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), and Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) all finished tied with 26 points. As they all finished with the exact same finishes, a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the small boat portion and a DNS (Did Not Start) in the big boat portion respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Sinarielle, Julie, and Jackson all remain tied in sixteenth place overall.
