Saturday afternoon, we had a fleet of six Bandit IFs at the start, with one Bandit IF crewed.
The North Sea regions behaved well and even in the Eden waters there was not a cloud in the sky.
Today for the first time, the “circle of the dragon” was at the start. The two races had two great starts. No sticking to the Committee boat as it happens on other days. Was that because of the circle, or is it something else? Time will tell.
Right from the start of the first race, a skipper immediately took the lead. She was followed behind by a group of four other skippers. As the race progressed, two groups of two boats were formed from the next group of four boats.
After the start of the second race, the fleet fell apart immediately. Two boats took the lead. Followed by two boats and two other boats sailed completely different lines.
We had one DNF (Did Not Finish) and three DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
More pictures after the results.

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Rugger was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for finishing the race under protest while failing to complete a 360° penalty turn as instructed by a race director for a 18.2 Giving Mark Room foul.
“18.2 Giving Mark-Room
(b) If boats are overlapped when the first of them reaches the zone, the outside boat at that moment shall
thereafter give the inside boat mark-room. If a boat is clear ahead when she reaches the zone,
the boat clear astern at that moment shall thereafter give her mark-room.“

Rugger (Ruggeromare Resident ) was disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for sailing an incorrect course. Sailing under the bridge of the island of Genip, as the whole island is the mark, this is not allowed.
Moon (moonglownight Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for sailing an incorrect course, missing the first course mark, because he was sailing the wrong route.
Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) both finished tied with 5 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
moonglownight Resident | 1 | 4 |
Jacquimo Resident | 2 | 3 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Moon’s favor with having a first place finish over Jack’s second place finish as his best.
