A beautiful Saturday afternoon in August saw the last North Sea Bandit IF Regatta for August, 2022. We started with six Bandit IFs.

At the start of the first race, we had a strange duck in the fleet. It was not Donald duck but a Bandit 25. The skipper knew he was not allowed to participate. The Bandit IF fleet set out for the first route. This was a puzzle1 route. Heading into the first mark, Julie and Moon took the lead and were followed by Max, Siri and Zero. Rugger lagged behind. This is how the order remained until the last leg. Here, Moon started the sprint but he still had to let Julie go ahead on the line.

The second race was a newly created course and the same as the first route, but in reverse. On the way to the first mark, the fleet split up. Julie and Zero turned west. While the men, Rugger, Moon, Max and Siri continued to sail south. Moon returned first, followed by Julie and Zero. During the race, Moon would slowly run out. Julie and Zero would battle for second place. Siri and Max followed this battle from a distance.

There were two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

1A puzzle route is a course were skippers are given a map of numbered buoys in the race notice. During the skippers meeting for the race, the skippers are then given a sequence of numbers that represent the order and form of the course to be sailed.
