This weeks North Sea Bandit IF Regatta took place on another beautiful Saturday afternoon in March. This week, we had eight bandit IFs at the start. One Bandit IF had crew on board.

In the first race, Rugger took the lead. But he was soon caught up by Moon. This was already over the fleet at the first mark. Rugger got hooked up with Siri, and Julie. Tamar tried to hook up. Rugger slowly walked away from Julie, and Siri, who got into a battle for third place. Tamar continued to follow this from a distance. Beyond Genip, Rugger was overtaken by Julie, and Siri. However, both fell out of their boat and this put them back at a distance from Rugger. Tamar picked up on Julie, and they both gave chase to Rugger. Meanwhile, Siri, and Jack were also fighting, Rugger had to let Julie go ahead at the finish.

During the second race, Rugger took the lead. However, he was soon overtaken by Julie, and Siri. Tamar got into a fight with Moon. When she reached the first mark, Julie was in charge of the fleet. The group was still close together. On the way to Sloe, a chasing pair had formed behind Julie, Moon, and Siri. It seemed like a race, but Moon was the unlucky one who got too close to my windsetter and got the wrong wind settings. Unfortunately, he had to give up. Meanwhile, Tamar had taken on Rugger again.

There was one DNF (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Note: With the onset of DST in the United States, Canada, and most of Mexico last Sunday, SL time (PST) is now one hour ahead. Another beautiful Saturday afternoon in November was the backdrop for this weeks North Sea Bandit IF Regatta. We started with seven Bandit IFs. The fleet set out together for the first mark. There Julie took the lead, followed by Jack and they immediately cut a gap with the five pursuers. Max thought he had found a shortcut but got stuck under the land bridge at the island in the Genip region. On the way to the third mark, Julie and Jack kept the lead and were followed by Rugger, Siri and Moon. Julie also slowly distanced herself from Jack. However, the chasing three were not done with each other yet. Siri and Moon had launched the attack on Rugger and they would fight for third place.

In the second race, we started again with seven skippers. Jack had a really good start. Closely followed by Max, Julie, Rugger and Siri. En route to the first mark, Julie and Rugger separated from the fleet. This was to no avail, as Jack and Max were the first to round the mark. Followed by Julie, Siri, Rugger and Moon. On our way to the second mark we lost Darb and not much later Rugger fell too. So we were left with five skippers. By the third mark, Julie and Siri had caught up with Jack and Max. These four skippers seemed to be fighting for the win, but Moon followed in the wake of the foursome. In the Eden Auk region, Siri was the first to round the mark, but Jack was next to him and had to give Siri space. Max and Julie where behind them. Julie ran into trouble and dropped back to fifth. But she didn’t give up and gave up the chase, hoping for a good seat. Siri finished first, followed at a distance by Jack and Julie.

There were two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

The first North Sea Bandit IF Regatta for July, 2022, was held on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We started with eight Bandit IFs. One of the Bandit IFs had crew on board. The start of the first race went smoothly. Six boats in a row sailed across the starting line. Fanny and Julie took a small lead and arrived first at the first mark. The four other skippers, Rugger, Siri, Emi and Zero, were already slightly behind. They would be fighting for third place. Halfway through the race, Rugger took a small distance on his three fellow fighters, but in Sloe he was again overtaken by Siri and Zero.

The second race started from the Dragonfruit region. All eight boats together competed for first place. During the first leg we had a fleet consisting of two ranks. Rugger, Julie and Drab on the leeward side and Fanny, Zero, Siri, Dunia and Emi on the windward side. Rounding the first mark we had four boats that had a small lead. Rugger soon had to let go of the front runners Fanny, Julie and Zero. Siri and Emi followed Rugger at close range. Zero got into trouble and had to give up. But the venom was in the tail.

There was one DNF (Did Not Finish) and two DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
