A calm mid-May Saturday was the scene for this weeks North Sea Bandit IF Regatta. We had six Bandit IFs at the start. Julie immediately took the lead, followed by Moon and Rugger. But, Julie and Moon quickly distanced themselves from Rugger, who in turn was chased by Siri. These two numbers would fight it out among themselves who would win against them.
In the second race, Moon took the lead but was followed by Rugger, Julie and Jack. The four of them went for the first mark. On the way to the second mark everyone had found their own line. The foursome had been caught up by Siri and Markis. However, two groups of three skippers emerged. Jack, Julie, and Moon as the frontrunners with Siri, Markis and Rugger as the second group. But that didn’t last long. Julie saw the chance to sail away from Jack and Moon. And Siri had connected with Jack. But on the way to the Melon region, the group fell apart and Moon joined Julie.
There were no DNFs (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for failing to complete a 360° penalty turn as directed by a race director due to a Rule 13 While Taking foul.
“13 WHILE TACKING
After a boat passes head to wind, she shall keep clear of other boats until she is on a close-hauled course.
During that time rules 10, 11 and 12 do not apply. If two boats are subject to this rule at the same time,
the one on the other’s port side or the one astern shall keep clear“

Siri (Sirius Rosca) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) both finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Sirius Rosca | 2 | 4 |
Ruggeromare Resident | 3 | 3 |
