The first North Sea Bandit Regatta of May saw a great fleet turnout with some late choppy sailing weather. The regions of The North Sea were well behaved for the start of our monthly There and Back Again version of the North Sea Bandit Regatta, as all thirteen boats in the first race fleet completed the multi-raceline first race with no issues, from the Eden Curlew region raceline to the Eden Jaeger region raceline, spanning the entire North Sea estate. The regions turned a bit stormy during the start of the second race, the return trip from the Eden Jaeger raceline back to the Eden Curlew raceline, as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded from skippers crashing on region crossings. The spectators that came out to watch this weeks Bandit skippers, witnessed some great racing as they gathered on the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, as well as the marina in the Eden Murrelet region, and the small race docks in the Eden Jaeger and Eden Jakana regions. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 02 and North Sea Jaeger to Curlew 01 courses, was comprised of a majority of nine Bandit IFs, eight sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. Four Bandit 25Rs rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Smooth to slightly choppy sim sailing weather, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of the North Sea started out incredibly smooth, as the only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded during the first race, due to a skipper pulling her boat when she realized she had been sailing an incorrect course. The seas turned slightly choppy during the second race as two more DNFs were recorded, both due to skippers crashing on crossings. The crowds on hand, gathered on the islands in the Genip, Ziziphus, and Eden Auk regions, as well as both small race docks, in the Eden Jakana and Eden Jaeger regions, were treated to some great racing from our monthly There and Back Again set of races, using both race lines in the Eden Curlew and Eden Jaeger regions. Stormy to smooth sim sailing weather, with a great spectator turnout, highlighted this weeks, and the last of 20191 calendar year, Cat Fight in the North Sea. The regions of the North Sea were finicky during the first race, as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded, two to crashes and one to a skippers connection failing. The seas calmed down for the second race, as only one DNF was recorded, this one to that same skipper’s pesky connection failing. Spectators crowded the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, then spread out to the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions, as the race moved the fleet to the Eden Jaeger race line, were the second race started from and finished. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 02 and North Sea Thornback courses, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and two with crew respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s rounded out the final frisky fleet-foiled Cat Fight fleet of the year.

1Special Note: The North Sea and Backwater Bay will take a two week holiday break from racing and sailing activities, starting Monday, December 23rd, 2019. Racing and sailing activities in the North Sea and out of Backwater Bay will then resume during the new year, on Monday, January 6th, 2020. Please consult our North Sea Sailing and Racing Calendar for further details.

Great sim sailing weather and spectator turnout highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea behaved exceptionally well as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was due to a skipper triggering a gesture that dropped their The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadow out of racing, into cruising, and subsequently losing race wind. By they time the skipper reset racing, while receiving a race wind broadcast from the race director who flew to them in the region, their navigation HUD stopped working. This all lead to the skipper pulling their boat out of frustration and receiving a DNF. The spectators on hand, had a much better time, as they gathered at the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Eden Auk regions to take in the fast fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 02 course and newly created North Sea Thornback course1, was comprised of a majority of six TMS Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and two sailing with crew respectively. One lone TMS Nacra 17 made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

Great sim sailing weather with a smaller turnout highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of the North Sea behaved exceptionally well today as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) or crashes were recorded on the day. The spectators on hand, still taking advantage of the week delay in Daylight Savings Time ending in the US causing Secondlife time to occur one hour earlier than usual, gathered in mass along the recently restored lighthouses in the Eden Auk, Eden Murrelet, and Ziziphus regions, as well as the new race dock in the Eden Jaeger region to watch the exciting fleet-foiled feline action. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana Reverse course and newly created North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 02 course1, was comprised of a majority of four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, three sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. One lone TMS Nacra 17 made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

1North Sea Curlew to Jaeger 02 was created by Cryptic to take advantage of the two new regions, Eden Booby and Eden Jaeger, added to the North Sea’s northwestern corner, with Eden Jaeger, a full region, containing the North Sea’s second race line.
