Rough sea weather and a changing sights featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club If Star 25R Regatta. The Bingo strait regions were slightly misbehaved as region crossings continued to be rough after Linden Research restarted the regions. With the rough seas came also a change of scenery as the first race saw the fleet sailing to Backwater Bay Yacht Club’s second race line in the Pastiche region, knows as Pastiche Bay. The second race started and finished in Pastiche Bay, with featured smoother waters with more room in the milling area for pre-start. Special mention: Nikki gets this weeks determination award for crashing in both races, hunting down her boat and crew, and still finishing.

Nikki (Nikki Lacrima) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Nikki Lacrima 3 5
Maximiliano Szondi 4 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Nikki’s favor with having a third place finish over Max’s fourth place finish as his best.

Today’s winner was Ian (IanPixel Resident), with ViV (vivipezz Resident) second, and Laured (laured Cabassoun) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

ViV (vivipezz Resident), Laured (laured Cabassoun), and Jackson (Jacquimo Resident), all finished tied with 7 points.

Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) and Astrid (AstridNewBonham Resident) both finished tied with 15 points. As they both have the exact same finishes in each race, a 6 point finish in the first race and 9 point finish in the second race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 nor Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing satisfy breaking the tie and as a result they remain tied with 15 points in 9th place.
