This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta featured smooth sim sailing weather with a nice fleet turnout. The regions in Bingo Strait returned to their normally smooth sim sailing conditions, after two turbulent weeks of rough crossings and poor region lag, as the two DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were due to a lost skipper and another skipper’s boat scripts ceasing to function. Spectators enjoyed the fleet racing, as they gathered along the pier front of the villa in the Twice Bitten region, and also along the light house pier in the Rodel region.
This weeks small boat fleet, racing on the newly created BBYC 13 course, was comprised of four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. Three Bandit IFs, and one Bandit 25r made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, racing on the BBYC 03 course, was comprised of split majority of two Wildwind Open 60s and two TMS Volvo Ocean 70s. One TMS Ushuaia and one TMS One Design 65 made up the remainder of the big boat fleet.
