Calm seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were once again well behaved for our skippers with only two DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. One DNF was due to a skippers connection dying on him, with the remaining DNF due to a skipper crashing while crossing across region corners. The crowds that gathered along the beaches of the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea SS-01 (Second Sailstice) and North Sea Trapezoid courses, was made up of a majority of nine Bandit 22 LTEs. Five Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and two sailing crewed respectively, and one Bandit 60 rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Calm seas, with another great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were behaved for most as five DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 and North Sea 02 courses, was comprised of a majority of fourteen Bandit 22 LTEs, one Bandit 25, one Bandit IF, and one Bandit 60 for the first race. Stormy seas, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of The North Sea were choppy and rough for both races as 8 DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded during the first race and another 7 were recorded during the second race. We still saw a whopping 20 boats at the line for the first race and another 18 for the second, with a majority of both fleets finishing. This was also the first Bandit Regatta to see the newly released Bandit 22 LTE compete, more on this below. The spectators that crowded the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock, in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on this weeks skippers as they displayed some great fleet racing. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the newly created North Sea Second Sailstice 01 (SS-01)1 course, was comprised of a large majority of ten Bandit 22 LTEs. Five Bandit IFs, four sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively, four Bandit 25Rs, and one lone Bandit 60 rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

As the Bandit 22 LTE was just released this past Friday at a launch party in The North Sea, and competed in a race for the first time this past Saturday in the Second Sailstice Novice Regatta, a new handicap was established as of the publishing of these results. A value of 0.75 was compiled from 27 recorded lap times, ran by various skippers this weekend and from today’s first race. Please see our North Sea Handicap Table for more details and a link to the Google Sheet showing the full times used to establish the value.

1 North Sea Second Sailstice 01 (SS-01) was created by Rei Inoue for the recently held Second Sailstice Novice Regatta, on June 20th, 2020.

Max (Maximiliano Szondi), Penny (Penelope Debruyere), and Meireles (Meireles Diabolito), all finished tied with 25 points. As they all had the exact same finishes, DNFs (Did Not Finish) in both races, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Max, Penny, and Meireles remain tied in sixteenth place overall.
