Rocky sailing sim weather featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The regions in the Bingo Strait were foul tempered as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, all during the first race as both Palani and Moon succumbed to the Bingo Strait’s hunger. After the foiling feline sacrifice in the first race, the seas calmed down to allow all boats in the second race to finish. This weeks fleet, racing on the BBYC 05 and BBYC 04 Rev 1 courses, was comprised of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. One lone TMS Nacra 17 made up the remainder of the fleet.

Today’s winner was Julnara (Julnara Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Palani (Palani Allen) tied in second, and Daenerys (blondij Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Palani (Palani Allen) both finished tied with 5 points. As they have identical finishes in each race, a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the first race and a DNS (Did Not Start) in the second race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 nor Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking this tie, therefore they both remained tied in second place overall.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight saw some rough sim sailing weather at the start but conditions calmed for the rest of the race. The regions in the Bingo Strait were fickle as they claimed Joshua, on his The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadow, right after the start line, during race one, for the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day. After Josh’s sacrifice, the regions calmed and allowed smooth sailing for the rest of the day. This weeks fleet, sailing on the BBYC 10 and BBYC 12 courses, was comprised entirely of TMS Flying Shadows.

Smooth sailing weather featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The regions in Bingo Strait put together another week of calm behavior as not a single DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was due to region conditions. The only DNF, Rayz during the first race, was due to his connection dropping entirely. This weeks fleet, racing on the BBYC 13 and newly created BBYC 14 courses, was comprised entirely of The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows.

Semi-smooth sim sailing weather featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. With Linden Lab attending too and repairing the Farragut region earlier in the week, at Elbag’s request, we were able to return to running courses through that portion of Bingo Strait. Both courses on the day, BBYC 05 and BBYC 12, run through Farragut and all crossings were smooth there. However, the southern channel of Nautilus City would prove to be more stubborn as the two DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day were claimed there, near the Howe region crossing. This weeks fleet, comprised entirely of The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows, otherwise had no lag issues as the rest of the regions behaved well.

Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for failing to complete a penalty turn before finishing after committing a Mark-Room foul (Rule 18) at the last race mark, the light house island in the Nimitz region.

Julnara (Julnara Resident) and Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Julnara Resident 3 5
Rayzza Rubble 4 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Julnara’s favor with having a third place finish over Rayz’s fourth place finish as his best.

Stormy sim sailing weather and a nice spectator turn out featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The North Channel was the stormy location for foiling feline frenzy this week, as the Cat Fight was run from the Backwater Bay Yacht Club race line in the Pastiche region. The region crossings immediately after the race line, in the Jershaw region, were the cause of five of the seven DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. The other two DNFs were the result of a skipper pulling their boat after realizing they had been racing an incorrect course and another skipper having allowed their crew edit rights on their objects and that crew stopping the boat dead in it’s tracks when they attempted to re-board it after falling off. Spectators were undeterred, however, as the committee boat dock and spectator viewing pier, both located in the Skeezits regions, were crowded with on lookers. This weeks fleet, racing 2 laps on the BBYC Pastiche Long Loop course and then another lap on the BBYC Pastiche Bay 02 course, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. One lone TMS Nacra 17 made up the remainder of the fleet.

Race Notes:
Isa (isab DeCuir) and Palani (Palani Allen) finished tied with 5 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
isab DeCuir 4 1
Palani Allen 1 4

In the last race, Isa breaks the tie with Palani with her first place finish over Palani’s fourth place finish.

Joshua (JoshuaMason7 Resident) and Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) both finished tied with 9 points. As they both have the exact same finishes in each race, a DNF (Did Not Finish) in each respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking this tie. Therefore, Joshua and Rayz remain tied in sixth place overall.

Smooth sim sailing weather that turned choppy highlighted this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The regions in Bingo Strait behaved well for the first race, yet the regions of the North Channel, location of the second race, were choppy as they claimed the only two DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. This weeks fleet, racing on the BBYC Woodfall to Pastiche 02 and the newly created BBYC Pastiche Long Loop course, were comprised of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows with one lone TMS Nacra 17 as the remainder.

A great gathering of spectators turned out this week to watch a display of fun racing in smooth sailing sim weather during the Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. Crowds continued their trend of flocking to the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region and the water front pier along the villa in the Twice Bitten region. The fleet itself responded in kind to the great sailing weather with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. This weeks fleet of catamarans, sailing on the BBYC 12 and BBYC 04 Rev 1 courses, was comprised of a majority of four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows and one lone TMS Nacra 17.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Daenerys’s favor with having a first place finish over Rayz’s second place finish Julnara’s third place finish as their best. Subsequently, Rayz breaks the remaining tie with his second place best finish over Julnara’s third place best finish.

Rough simulator conditions and a determined fleet showcased this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. Linden Lab’s servers were having their share of issues to the point that they conducted an unplanned maintenance, see here Feb 8th Unscheduled Maintenance, to correct them during the Cat Fight. Conditions would not hold back the fleet, however, as everyone fought to finish in both races with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. The fleet, comprised of five The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows (Three crewed and two single-handed), raced on the BBYC Bowline Reverse and newly created BBYC 12 courses.

This weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight saw some nice sailing weather turn choppy with another nice spectator turn out. The regions in the Bingo Strait started out with their recent butter smooth behavior but grew temperamental during the second race as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were claimed at the finish. A nice spectator crowd turned out in the Twice Bitten and Woodfall regions to witness 7 catamarans in each race fly on their foils. This weeks fleet, racing on the BBYC 03 and BBYC 06 courses, was comprised of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. Two TMS Nacra 17s made up the remainder of the fleet.

Calm sailing region weather and a nice fleet turnout featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The regions of Bingo Strait behaved well, giving us calm sailing weather as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was a result of a skipper crashing. Daenerys’s Flying Shadow zoomed off to the east, past the yellow mark in the Muta region, as she disconnected from a crash resulting in the scripts in her catamaran throwing errors on her return and a DNF. The other two DNFs on the day, both accredited to Riz, were due to incorrect courses loaded into his Ultimate Sailor Buddy HUD (USB) resulting in him pulling his boat in both races. This weeks fleet, racing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long) and the BBYC W1 course, was comprised entirely of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows in race one, with Riz opting to switch out his Flying Shadow for his TMS Nacra 17, in race two.
