Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were mostly calm as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF happened right after the start of the first race, when a skipper pulled his boat on the course side of the start line. The crowds that assembled along the beaches on the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on an exciting display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Trapezoid course, was made up of a majority of six Bandit 22 LTEs1. Four Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and two crewed respectively, and one Bandit 25R rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.
1As of the publication of these results, the handicap value for the Bandit 22 LTE has been adjust to 0.79, up from 0.78. Please see North Sea Handicap Table for the rest of our handicaps and a link to the Google Sheet used to calculate them.

Today’s winner was Sirius (Sirius Rosca), with Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.
Race Notes:
Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) finished tied with 16 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“

In the last race, Emileigh breaks the tie with Red with her seventh place finish over Red’s ninth place finish.
North Sea Racing 
Thanks for another fun regatta. Conditions were mostly good. I only encountered issues in race 1, with momentarily loss of controls in CAROB region during the first beat which cost me dearly as the boat slowed down a lot, slowly luffing towards irons without possibility for me to correct it. I then had scripting issues with my AV stuck on her position to the left. I had to eventually moor and sit up/down to restore my mobility so I could enjoy the correct viewing angle. Second race went smoothly but for a tiny lack of speed at start to fully succeed in my port start. The 360 I had to do for fouling at start really cost me (even more than my technical issues in race 1 apparently). Anyway, not too bad for an IF race. Hopefully, I ll do better next time. Cheers!
