The last Saturday afternoon, and last North Sea Bandit IF Regatta for March, 2023. We had nine bandit IFs at the start. Two Bandit IFs had crew on board.
In the first race we lost two skippers. One of them lost its way and another had a power failure in RL.
In the second race we also lost two skippers. One gave up before the end and the other gave up after a bad region border.
There were four DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
Note: Due to EU Summer Time coming into affect this Sunday, March 26th, The North Sea will return to our normal 1PM SL time slot for our Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday races, and 2:30 PM SL for our Friday race.

Today’s winners were Red (RedHeadJO Resident), with Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) second, and Moon (Moonglownight Resident) in third place.
Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished the second race tied at the finishing line with a time of 32:02. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:
“If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.“
Therefore, both Julie and Moon receive 1.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 1 and 2, added together and divided equally.
Jack (Jacquimo Resident) and Tamar (Tamara Czervik) finished tied with 11 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
|Skipper||Race 1||Race 2|
In the last race, Jack breaks the tie with Tamar with his second place finish over Tamar’s sixth place finish.
Vicky (Vicky4698 Resident) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) both finished tied with 16 points. As they both have the exact same finishes, DNFs (Did Not Finish) during the race, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Vicky (Vicky4698 Resident) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) both remain tied in fifth place overall.
WOOOOT RED !!!
