Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a moderate breeze of 11 knots out of the southwest, rising to 15 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were mostly well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF came from a skipper crashing while crossing over region corners in the second race. The crowds that assembled along the shores on the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, enjoyed an enthused display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 02 and North Sea 01 courses, was made up of a majority of eight Bandit IFs, seven sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively. Three Bandit 22 LTEs, and one Bandit 25R rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

  1. Thanks for hosting another fine regatta. Fun exciting racing, overall good conditions, and interesting wind on simple yet challenging courses.
I do have a question though, stemming from personal experience. Again, yesterday, I ran into issue as I crossed from Eden Curlew (starting sim, full region) into Carob (1st region after start, homestead). I say “again” because I have experienced similar issues before on that exact same simcross: being dropped from boat like yesterday, being stuck on the border, having various boat issues as we cross (script malfunctions mostly), sudden loss of textures, etc… This happens when I have a so-so start, being stuck in middle of the fleet, in large fleet races like yesterday. EdenCurlew can handle the heavy load of the race start, but Carob not so well.
So my question is: Would it be possible to restore Carob as a full region like it was a long time ago to prevent such issues?

  2. Carob has always been the region south of both Eden Curlew, and the regions that were preceded it, Neem and Breadnut. There’s never been a full region south of the starting region.
