The last North Sea Bandit IF Regatta for February, 2023, took place on a pleasant Saturday afternoon. We had six bandit IFs at the start. One bandit IF had crew on board. Later, two more skippers joined the fleet.
Julie took the lead in the first race. Followed by Moon and Siri. They would fight fiercely for the top three places. During the race, two skippers broke down.
During the second race, Siri took the lead, but it was soon taken over by Moon. Julie broke down but was still able to resume her race. Two other skippers had to give up during the race.
It had to happen in the last race. Julie immediately took the head and did not give it away. Siri went into battle with Moon. Jack managed to take advantage of this and took second place. He would have to defend this place in the course of the race, because Moon didn’t leave him alone. Siri, meanwhile, was battling Rugger for fourth place.
There were four DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Today’s winners were Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Moon (Moonglownight Resident) second, and Siri (Sirius Rosca) in third place.

Jack (Jacquimo Resident), Darb (Darb Tabak), and Markis (Marcus Schechter) all finished tied with 9 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jack’s favor with having a second place finish over Darb’s and Markis’s fourth place finishes as their best.
As Darb and Markis both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to further break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“

In the last race, Darb breaks the tie with Markis with his sixth place finish over Markis’s seventh place finish.
Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) finished tied with 11 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
